Festival rooted in spiritual heritage

The आयोजन is being held at Ekatma Dham on Mandhata Hill, a site closely linked with Adi Shankaracharya, the philosopher known for Advaita Vedanta. Scheduled on the auspicious occasion of Vaishakh Shukla Panchami, the festival is designed to promote the idea of unity through discussions, rituals, and cultural expression.

Officials stated that the location itself holds deep spiritual importance, making it a fitting venue for an event that seeks to connect ancient teachings with modern perspectives.

Inaugural events and key participants

During the opening ceremony, the Chief Minister will formally launch two major attractions—Advaita Lok and the Akshar Brahma exhibitions. He is also expected to participate in traditional Vedic rituals as part of the ceremony.

Several well-known spiritual figures will attend the inauguration, adding depth to the event’s religious and philosophical discussions. Their presence is expected to encourage meaningful dialogue and exchange of ideas among participants.

Discussions linking philosophy with modern issues

One of the central attractions of the festival will be the Advaitamritam – Vimarsh Sabha. This discussion forum will bring together scholars and experts to explore how Advaita philosophy can be applied in today’s world.

The sessions will cover a range of contemporary topics, including the role of philosophy in the lives of younger generations, the impact of artificial intelligence, environmental responsibility, and the importance of global harmony. The inclusion of diverse themes highlights an effort to bridge traditional wisdom with present-day challenges.

Cultural performances add vibrancy

Each evening of the festival will feature cultural programmes, offering audiences a rich experience of Indian classical arts. On the opening day, performances by a renowned classical vocalist and an Odissi dancer are scheduled.

In the following days, audiences can expect a variety of presentations, including Bharatanatyam, Carnatic music, and traditional devotional forms. These performances aim to showcase India’s artistic heritage alongside its philosophical traditions.

Youth engagement through Shankaradoot initiative

A major highlight is planned for April 21, when more than 700 young participants from India and abroad will take a pledge as Shankaradoots. Through this initiative, they will commit to sharing and promoting the teachings of Adi Shankaracharya.

Organisers believe that involving youth in this manner will help carry forward philosophical ideas to future generations, ensuring their continued relevance.

Religious importance of Omkareshwar

Omkareshwar is widely regarded as one of the most sacred sites in India. It is home to the revered Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas dedicated to Lord Shiva. Situated on Mandhata Island in the Narmada River, the temple attracts thousands of pilgrims every year.

The choice of this location for the festival adds a deeper spiritual dimension, reinforcing its significance as more than just a cultural event.

Vision for a global spiritual centre

The festival is part of broader efforts by the state government to develop Ekatma Dham into an international hub for spiritual learning and cultural exchange. Projects such as the Statue of Oneness and the upcoming Advaita Lok museum are expected to draw visitors, researchers, and devotees from around the world.

Authorities hope that such initiatives will strengthen India’s position as a centre of philosophical thought and cultural heritage.

Promoting unity through shared traditions

By bringing together diverse voices and traditions, Ekatma Parv aims to highlight the enduring relevance of India’s philosophical legacy. The event is expected to foster a sense of unity while offering a platform for meaningful engagement with timeless ideas.
