Drugs – Prakasam Police Intensify Vehicle Checks During Anti-Narcotics Drive
Drugs – Police teams in Andhra Pradesh’s Prakasam district conducted extensive inspection drives on Sunday as part of Operation Vajra Prahar, a special initiative aimed at curbing illegal activities and improving public safety. The coordinated operation covered the Kandukuru, Addanki and Ongole subdivisions, where officers carried out cordon-and-search activities and seized close to 100 vehicles found operating without valid documentation.

Large-Scale Vehicle Inspection Across Key Areas
Officials said the inspections were conducted to strengthen law enforcement presence and identify violations linked to transportation rules and unlawful activities. Police personnel stopped and checked vehicles at multiple locations, verifying registration papers, driving licences and other mandatory records.
During the operation, authorities reportedly confiscated several motorcycles, auto-rickshaws and a car that failed to meet legal requirements. The seized vehicles were later shifted to nearby police stations for further verification and legal procedures.
Senior officers supervised the drive across different subdivisions to ensure smooth coordination among local police units. The department stated that such inspections are intended to improve road safety while discouraging the misuse of vehicles in criminal activities.
Awareness Campaign Focused on Drug Prevention
Alongside enforcement measures, Eagle teams joined police officials in conducting public awareness rallies highlighting the risks associated with ganja consumption and banned psychotropic substances. Residents in several localities were informed about the health, legal and social consequences linked to narcotics abuse.
Officials appealed to the public, especially young people, to stay away from illegal drugs and avoid participating in transportation or distribution networks connected to narcotics. Police warned that strict legal action would be taken against individuals involved in such offences.
Participants in the campaign also took part in a “No Drugs” pledge organised by the authorities. The initiative aimed to encourage community participation in anti-drug efforts and create greater awareness about substance abuse prevention.
Police Spread Awareness on Public Safety Issues
Apart from the anti-drug message, police teams used the campaign to educate citizens on several public safety concerns. Awareness sessions included guidance on traffic regulations, cybercrime prevention, crimes against women, burglary prevention and legal protections under the POCSO Act.
Officials explained common cyber fraud tactics and advised residents to remain cautious while sharing personal or financial information online. Citizens were also encouraged to report suspicious activity and cooperate with authorities to maintain law and order in their neighbourhoods.
Police said community involvement plays an important role in preventing crime and improving security across urban and rural regions alike. The awareness activities were designed to strengthen trust between the public and law enforcement agencies.
Helpline Numbers Shared With Residents
As part of the outreach effort, authorities urged residents to immediately report information related to drug trafficking or other unlawful activities. Citizens were asked to contact emergency helpline number 112, toll-free number 1972, WhatsApp number 9121102266, or approach their nearest police station to share information confidentially.
Officials reiterated that public cooperation remains essential in tackling narcotics-related offences and ensuring safer communities across the district. Police added that similar drives and awareness programmes may continue in the coming weeks under Operation Vajra Prahar.
