Arrest – Manipur Police Nab Two Suspected Militants in Separate Security Operations
Arrest – Manipur Police have arrested a suspected militant in Bishnupur district for his alleged involvement in a bomb explosion at a petrol pump in Moirang earlier this year. Officials said the operation was carried out as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen law and order and crack down on insurgent-related activities across the state.
Suspect Held at Bishnupur Checkpoint
According to police, the accused has been identified as 39-year-old Mayanglambam Tomba Singh, who is believed to be an active member of the banned Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL). He was taken into custody on Thursday during a security check at the Tera Urak checkpoint in Bishnupur district.
Investigators said Singh originally belongs to Bijang Khunou village in Churachandpur district and is presently residing at the Phubala Relief Camp. During the arrest, security personnel recovered a 9 mm pistol, one magazine, and 11 live rounds of ammunition of different calibres from his possession. The recovered items have been seized for further investigation.
Alleged Connection to Petrol Pump Explosion
Police officials stated that preliminary investigations indicate Singh was allegedly linked to the blast that occurred at a petrol pump in Moirang earlier this year. While the explosion caused concern in the area, authorities confirmed that no injuries or fatalities were reported in the incident.
The investigation into the case is continuing, and officials are examining available evidence to determine the extent of the accused’s alleged role. Police have not disclosed additional operational details, citing the ongoing nature of the inquiry.
Separate Operation Leads to Another Arrest
In another security operation conducted in Churachandpur district, security forces arrested another suspected militant believed to be associated with the banned United Kuki National Army (UKNA).
The individual, identified as S Palal Kuki, was apprehended from the Molnom area. According to police, he is suspected of serving as the “finance head” of the outlawed organisation.
Allegations Include Extortion and Firing Incidents
Police alleged that S Palal Kuki was involved in multiple criminal activities, including extortion and several firing-related incidents reported in the region. Authorities said the arrest forms part of broader security measures aimed at dismantling the operational networks of banned militant groups active in Manipur.
Officials have not released further details regarding the ongoing investigation or whether additional arrests are expected in connection with the case. Law enforcement agencies are continuing to gather evidence and verify the allegations.

Security agencies have maintained heightened surveillance across several districts of Manipur in response to concerns over militant activities and public safety.
