Trinamool Congress – Senior Leaders Continue Exit Amid Growing Party Uncertainty

Trinamool Congress – A fresh wave of departures from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has intensified discussions about the party’s internal stability, with political leaders from rival camps claiming that dissatisfaction among members has been building for several years. Recent resignations from the Rajya Sabha have further fueled speculation about possible changes within the party’s leadership structure.

Assam Minister Points to Internal Discontent

Assam minister Keshab Mahanta on Friday suggested that several leaders who had remained with the Trinamool Congress despite personal reservations are now choosing to leave. According to him, many party members had continued to support Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the past few years even when they were not fully comfortable with the party’s direction.

Mahanta stated that political circumstances often require leaders to stay aligned with decisions they may not entirely agree with. However, he noted that the current environment has prompted a number of individuals to seek alternative political paths, resulting in a series of departures from the party.

BJP Leaders React to Recent Developments

The issue also drew reactions from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain said that resignations within the Trinamool Congress reflect growing dissatisfaction among some of its members.

Speaking on the matter, Hussain remarked that several leaders no longer believe remaining in the party serves their political interests. He argued that those who have stepped down are doing so after concluding that their future may lie elsewhere. His comments came amid continuing debate over the reasons behind the recent exits.

Prakash Chik Baraik Explains Resignation Decision

Among the latest leaders to leave is former Rajya Sabha member Prakash Chik Baraik. Shortly after resigning from the Upper House, Baraik explained that his decision was influenced by public sentiment and the views expressed by people in West Bengal.

He said he carefully considered public opinion before taking the step to relinquish his position. His resignation has become one of the most discussed developments in the ongoing political situation surrounding the Trinamool Congress.

Third Resignation Within a Week Raises Questions

The resignation of Prakash Chik Baraik marks the third departure from the Rajya Sabha linked to the party within a single week. The sequence of exits has sparked renewed attention on the state of internal unity within the organization.

Earlier, on June 10, Trinamool Congress leader Sushmita Dev resigned from her Rajya Sabha membership. Just two days before that, on June 8, senior party leader Sukhendu Sekhar Ray stepped down not only from the Upper House but also from the primary membership of the Trinamool Congress.

Political Observers Watching Future Developments

The rapid succession of resignations has prompted political observers to closely monitor future developments within the party. While the Trinamool Congress has not officially linked the resignations to any broader internal issues, opposition leaders continue to interpret the departures as signs of dissatisfaction among certain sections of its leadership.

As discussions continue across political circles, attention is now focused on whether more leaders may follow the same path or whether the party leadership will take steps to address concerns raised by departing members. The coming weeks are expected to provide greater clarity on the implications of these resignations for the party’s organizational structure and political strategy.
