Traffic – Mumbai Announces Road Restrictions for Shivaji Park Padwa Event
Traffic – The Mumbai Traffic Police has rolled out a comprehensive traffic plan ahead of the Padwa Mela scheduled at Shivaji Park on March 19. The event, organised by the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, is expected to draw large crowds from across the state. In view of the anticipated rush, authorities will enforce traffic regulations from 1 pm until midnight under provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, aiming to ensure orderly movement and avoid congestion in Dadar and surrounding areas.

Key Roads to Remain No-Parking Zones
To manage the surge in vehicles, parking will not be permitted on several major roads in the Dadar locality. Among the affected stretches are SVS Road between Siddhivinayak Temple Junction and Yes Bank Junction, Keluskar Road (both North and South), MB Raut Marg, Pandurang Nayak Marg (Road No 5), Dadasaheb Rege Marg, and Lt Dilip Gupte Marg between Shivaji Park Gate No 4 and Shitladevi Temple Junction. Restrictions will also apply on NC Kelkar Marg from Gadkari Junction to Hanuman Temple Junction. Officials believe these measures are necessary to prevent bottlenecks and keep traffic moving steadily during the event.
Diversion Routes Planned for Smooth Traffic Flow
In addition to parking restrictions, several traffic diversions will be introduced depending on real-time conditions. Vehicles heading towards SVS Road may be rerouted via alternative corridors such as SK Bole Road, Agar Bazaar, Portuguese Church, Gokhale Road, and LJ Road. Traffic may also be redirected through Raja Badhe Chowk and nearby intersections as required. Authorities have stated that on-ground personnel will continuously monitor the situation and make adjustments to minimise disruption.
Designated Parking Spaces for Visitors
To accommodate attendees arriving from different parts of Mumbai, the police have identified specific parking areas. Those travelling from western and northern suburbs are advised to exit at Senapati Bapat Road and use parking facilities at Mahim Reti Bandar, Kamgar Maidan, and Kohinoor PPL. Visitors coming from the eastern suburbs via the Eastern Express Highway should exit near Dadar TT Circle and park at locations such as Five Gardens in Matunga or RAK Road 4. For people arriving from South Mumbai, parking arrangements have been made at Indiabulls PPL and Aapasaheb Marathe Marg.
Appeal for Cooperation from Citizens
The advisory, issued on March 18, 2026, calls on residents and commuters to cooperate with traffic officials and follow the guidelines issued for the day. Authorities have urged people to plan their travel in advance, use designated parking facilities, and avoid restricted routes wherever possible. According to the Mumbai Traffic Police, public cooperation will be key to ensuring that the event proceeds smoothly without causing major inconvenience across the city.
