Tourism – Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings to the people of Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday, marking the state’s foundation day. In his message, he praised the region’s deep-rooted traditions, vibrant cultural identity, and the hardworking nature of its residents while expressing hope for continued growth and prosperity across the state.

In a public message shared on social media, the Prime Minister acknowledged Himachal Pradesh as a land known for its spiritual significance and cultural richness. Historical Background of Himachal Pradesh Formation
Himachal Day is observed annually on April 15, commemorating the creation of Himachal Pradesh in 1948. On this date, several princely states were integrated to form the new administrative unit. This marked the beginning of a new chapter in the region’s governance and development.
Later, the State of Himachal Pradesh Act was passed by Parliament on December 18, 1970, paving the way for full statehood. On January 25, 1971, Himachal Pradesh officially became the 18th state of India. Since then, January 25 is also celebrated as Statehood Day and is observed as a public holiday within the state.

The temple complex has been constructed in traditional Dravidian architectural style and stands as a memorial dedicated to Sri Sri Sri Dr. Balagangadharanatha Mahaswamiji, a respected spiritual leader and the 71st pontiff of the Adichunchanagiri Math. The site is intended to serve both as a place of devotion and as a source of inspiration for future generations.
Book Release and Public Address Planned
As part of the Karnataka कार्यक्रम, the Prime Minister will also participate in the release of a religious text titled “Saundarya Lahari and Shiva Mahimna Stotram.” This event will be held jointly with former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda.
