His visit highlighted the Centre’s focus on creating new opportunities for growth across various segments of the textile industry.

Visit to Industrial Facility in Krishna District

As part of the tour, Giriraj Singh visited Spintex India Private Limited at the Mallavalli Industrial Park in Bapulapadu mandal of Krishna district. The visit provided an opportunity to assess industrial operations and discuss future expansion prospects in the region. Andhra Pradesh Minister for BC and EWS Welfare, Handlooms and Textiles S Savitha accompanied the Union Minister during the inspection.

Officials and industry representatives briefed the minister on current production capabilities and the potential for attracting additional investments into the state’s textile ecosystem.

Focus on Expanding Textile Manufacturing

Following the facility visit, the Union Minister met with industrial leaders and entrepreneurs to discuss opportunities for establishing silk-based and other textile manufacturing units in Andhra Pradesh. The discussions focused on improving infrastructure, increasing investment interest, and building a stronger industrial network within the state.

Speaking to reporters, Giriraj Singh said he would hold detailed discussions with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu regarding strategies to accelerate textile sector growth. According to the minister, Andhra Pradesh possesses significant advantages that could help it emerge as a leading destination for textile production in the country.

Importance of Cotton Productivity

A major part of the minister’s address centered on the cotton sector. He noted that Andhra Pradesh has considerable potential to increase cotton output and emphasized the importance of adopting improved agricultural practices.

Giriraj Singh highlighted the need for effective seed policies and the use of modern farming techniques to improve productivity levels. He stated that strengthening the cotton supply chain would not only support farmers but also provide a reliable foundation for textile manufacturers operating in the state.

Support for the Handloom Sector

The minister also acknowledged Andhra Pradesh’s longstanding handloom heritage. He said the Centre has already approved one handloom cluster project for the state and is reviewing another proposal aimed at further supporting traditional weaving communities.

The initiative is expected to help strengthen production capacity, improve market access, and create additional employment opportunities within the handloom sector.

Emphasis on Advanced Textile Technologies

Beyond conventional textiles, Giriraj Singh stressed the growing importance of advanced materials and technology-driven industries. He referred to sectors involving glass fibre, carbon fibre, and graphene-based products as important areas for future industrial growth.

The minister announced that he would inaugurate a glass fibre manufacturing unit in Visakhapatnam on Saturday, describing such projects as significant steps toward diversifying the state’s industrial base and promoting high-value manufacturing.
