The blast, which took place on November 10 last year, resulted in the death of the main accused, Umar Un Nabi. The investigation has culminated in a massive chargesheet submitted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) before a court earlier this year. According to the NIA, the accused individuals named in the chargesheet were allegedly associated with a faction linked to the international terrorist organization al-Qaida. Investigators claim that members of the network had been actively experimenting with advanced explosive devices and had conducted tests in forested areas of Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

The agency’s findings suggest that these activities were not isolated incidents but part of a broader strategy aimed at strengthening the group’s operational capabilities.

Many of its founding members were reportedly connected to Bhatkal, a coastal town in Karnataka. This association led to the widespread use of the term “Bhatkal module” in discussions surrounding the group’s activities.
