TerrorFunding – Punjab Police Bring Back Two KZF-Linked Operatives From Malaysia

TerrorFunding – Punjab Police have secured a significant breakthrough in an ongoing counter-terrorism investigation after two alleged operatives linked to the banned Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) were deported from Malaysia to India. The operation was carried out with support from central intelligence agencies and the Royal Malaysia Police, according to Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav.

Accused Taken Into Custody Upon Arrival

The two suspects were detained by Punjab Police officials at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi after their arrival from Malaysia. Following their apprehension, they were transported to Punjab for further questioning and investigation into their alleged activities.

Authorities identified the accused as Gurwinder Singh, a resident of Ambala, and Manjeet Singh from Patiala. Investigators believe both individuals played key roles in a Malaysia-based network allegedly associated with KZF and were involved in supporting operations targeting critical railway infrastructure in Punjab.

Links to Railway Corridor Blast Cases

The development is connected to earlier investigations into attacks on the state’s railway freight network. Punjab Police had previously dismantled a terror module allegedly responsible for an improvised explosive device (IED) blast near Sirhind in Fatehgarh Sahib on January 23.

Investigators had also linked the group to an attempted explosion along the same dedicated freight corridor near Shambhu in Patiala district on April 27. Both incidents raised concerns over the security of strategically important transportation infrastructure in the region.

Major Recoveries During Earlier Investigation

During the course of the earlier probe, law enforcement agencies arrested four individuals suspected of being part of the network. Officials also recovered a substantial cache of weapons and explosive materials.

According to police records, the seized items included an RPG launcher, an IED, RDX explosives, hand grenades, and sophisticated pistols along with ammunition. Investigators believe the recoveries provided crucial leads that helped uncover the wider network operating beyond India’s borders.

Financial Network Operating From Abroad

As the investigation progressed, authorities reportedly uncovered evidence pointing to the involvement of handlers and financial facilitators based in Malaysia. These findings led investigators to focus on overseas links that allegedly supported the activities of the terror module.

Police officials allege that the two deported suspects were involved in routing funds through offshore channels and facilitating financial transfers to operatives active in Punjab. Investigators claim the money was intended to support plans aimed at carrying out disruptive and unlawful activities within the state.

Court Proceedings and Ongoing Probe

Following their return to India, both accused were produced before a court in Patiala on June 18. The court subsequently remanded them to police custody, allowing investigators additional time to question them and examine their alleged role in the wider conspiracy.

Officials stated that further inquiries are underway to identify additional associates, financiers, and handlers who may have been connected to the network. The investigation is expected to focus on both domestic and international links that may have supported the alleged activities.

Commitment to Counter-Terror Operations

Punjab Police have reiterated their commitment to tackling terrorism-related threats and dismantling networks involved in financing or facilitating such activities. Authorities emphasized that efforts will continue to target individuals and groups accused of threatening public safety, critical infrastructure, and law and order in the state.

Officials said strengthening intelligence coordination, disrupting financial channels, and pursuing cross-border cooperation remain key components of ongoing security operations aimed at maintaining peace and stability across Punjab.
