Terror Attack – A labourer from Chhattisgarh lost his life while another was injured after terrorists opened fire on non-local workers in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district. The incident has drawn strong condemnation from political leaders, while security agencies have intensified efforts to trace those responsible.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has expressed profound sorrow over the death of a worker from the state in the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district. Another labourer sustained injuries in the same incident and is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
Chief Minister Condemns the Attack
In a message shared on X, the Chief Minister described the attack as a deeply distressing and cowardly act. He said the loss of a worker from Chhattisgarh had caused immense grief and extended his condolences to the bereaved family. Sai also wished the injured labourer a speedy recovery and assured that the state government would continue to monitor the situation closely.
The Chief Minister stated that officials have been instructed to ensure every possible form of assistance reaches the affected families. He added that the injured worker is receiving medical care and that the Chhattisgarh government remains committed to supporting those impacted by the tragedy.
Attack Targeted Non-Local Workers
According to Jammu and Kashmir Police, the incident occurred in the Kellam area of Kulgam district, where terrorists opened fire on non-local labourers. One worker died in the attack, while another suffered injuries and was shifted to a hospital for treatment.
Police officials confirmed that security personnel immediately responded by sealing off the area and launching an extensive search operation. The objective is to identify and apprehend the attackers responsible for the shooting.
Security Operations Intensified
Following the attack, security forces expanded their search efforts across the surrounding region. Additional personnel have been deployed to strengthen the cordon, while multiple teams are carrying out coordinated operations to locate those involved.

Lieutenant Governor Orders Strong Response

Sinha said he had directed security agencies to intensify counter-terror operations and take firm action against those responsible for the attack. He described the killing of the Chhattisgarh labourer as a cowardly act and reiterated the administration’s commitment to ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
