Technology – The Delhi government has unveiled plans to set up two dedicated Artificial Intelligence Centres of excellence as part of the IndiaAI Mission led by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. Officials shared that the initiative is designed to accelerate innovation and create a supportive environment for emerging technology ventures in the national capital.
Focus on Startup Growth and Innovation
These centres are expected to play a crucial role in nurturing startups and encouraging new ideas. According to officials, nearly 100 startups could benefit from the initiative over the next four years. By offering structured support, mentorship, and resources, the programme aims to help early-stage companies transform their concepts into scalable and impactful businesses.
The centres will also serve as collaborative platforms where government bodies, academic institutions, and industry experts can work together. This integrated approach is intended to strengthen Delhi’s position as a growing hub for artificial intelligence and advanced technologies.

Each centre will receive financial backing of Rs 20 crore, following a shared funding model. Institutions such as Netaji Subhas University of Technology and Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University are expected to be key collaborators in the project.
Officials noted that this partnership model ensures both technical expertise and practical industry exposure, helping create a balanced and effective ecosystem for innovation.
Employment and Skill Development Plans
One of the central goals of the initiative is to prepare a skilled workforce for future technologies. Over 7,000 individuals are expected to receive training in artificial intelligence and related fields. In addition to training, the centres are projected to generate more than 1,000 job opportunities during the initial four-year period. This aligns with broader efforts to strengthen employment prospects in emerging technology sectors.
