Technology – Delhi Police Uncover Online Scam Involving Missing iPhones Delivery
Technology – The case came to light after a complainant reported discrepancies in multiple online purchases made through a popular e-commerce platform. According to officials, the individual had ordered 50 units of iPhone 16 (128 GB) between April 12 and April 16. Despite receiving delivery confirmations for all shipments, the complainant stated that none of the packages actually reached him.
Based on the complaint, authorities suspected deliberate manipulation in the delivery process. The total value of the missing smartphones was estimated to be around ₹35 lakh, making it a serious financial offence.
Role of Delivery Personnel Under Scrutiny
During the initial inquiry, investigators found irregularities linked to shipment tracking data. Out of 32 tracking IDs examined, 26 were reportedly assigned to a single delivery agent. This raised suspicion about the involvement of internal personnel in the alleged fraud.
Further investigation pointed towards a coordinated effort, where delivery records were falsified to show successful handovers while the actual items were diverted elsewhere. Officials believe that the delivery agent may have exploited system loopholes to execute the scheme.
Arrests Made and Devices Recovered
Police identified and apprehended Jaspreet Singh, a 21-year-old delivery agent, who was directly linked to the suspicious consignments. During questioning, he reportedly confessed to working with an associate, Himanshu, aged 30.
Following the disclosures, both individuals were taken into custody. Acting on their statements, the police recovered 14 sealed iPhone 16 devices, valued at approximately ₹10 lakh. The recovery provided crucial evidence supporting the allegations of misappropriation.
Details of the Alleged Modus Operandi
Investigators revealed that the accused had allegedly marked shipments as delivered without completing the actual handover. By doing so, they were able to retain possession of the devices and later divert them for personal gain.
Authorities suspect that such activities may involve a broader network, although no further arrests have been confirmed so far. The investigation is ongoing to determine whether additional individuals were involved or if similar incidents have occurred elsewhere.
Legal Action and Ongoing Probe
A formal case has been registered at Bharat Nagar police station under relevant sections of law dealing with cheating and criminal breach of trust. Officials stated that further interrogation of the accused is underway to uncover the full extent of the operation.
Law enforcement agencies have also begun examining delivery protocols and internal safeguards within e-commerce logistics systems to prevent such incidents in the future.

This case has once again highlighted vulnerabilities in the online delivery ecosystem, particularly concerning high-value products. Experts suggest that stronger verification mechanisms and improved tracking transparency are essential to reduce the risk of fraud.
