TamilNaduPolitics – Police deployed in significant numbers outside the residence of Tamil Nadu Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin in Neelankarai on Tuesday after the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) announced protests across the state. The security arrangements were made as a precautionary step to maintain law and order following rising political tensions linked to allegations over comments made during a recent public gathering.
FIR Registered Following Complaint
Additional Commissioner of Police Narendran Nair, IPS, confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against Udhayanidhi Stalin in connection with alleged derogatory remarks concerning Chief Minister Vijay. The police action follows complaints submitted by members of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, who sought legal intervention over statements they described as objectionable.
Women’s Wing Raises Allegations
The controversy gained momentum after the women’s wing of TVK approached the Thanjavur police, alleging that Udhayanidhi made an inappropriate double-entendre remark involving actor Trisha Krishnan during a DMK protest meeting held in Thanjavur. In its complaint, the party’s women’s wing urged authorities to take appropriate action, stating that such remarks were unacceptable and warranted investigation under the law.
Statewide Protest Announced by TVK
Alongside the police complaint, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam announced demonstrations across Tamil Nadu, claiming that Udhayanidhi’s speech included an inappropriate reference to the actor. The party maintained that the issue was serious enough to justify public protests and demanded accountability over the alleged remarks.
With demonstrations expected at several locations, police strengthened security around Udhayanidhi Stalin’s residence to prevent any untoward incidents and ensure public order. Officials indicated that the deployment was purely precautionary in view of the protest call.
Political Dispute Intensifies
The latest controversy comes amid an ongoing political confrontation between the DMK and TVK. Udhayanidhi has recently faced criticism from TVK after slogans referring to actor Trisha Krishnan were reportedly raised during one of his rallies, where he was criticizing Chief Minister Vijay over the handling of the Cauvery river water dispute involving Karnataka.
The exchange has further intensified the political rivalry between the two parties, with leaders on both sides continuing to trade accusations over public statements and campaign conduct.
TVK MLA Criticises DMK Leadership
Reacting to the controversy, TVK MLA Rhevanth Charan strongly criticised the DMK’s conduct through a post on X. He described the alleged remarks as completely unacceptable and said such statements reflected poorly on the party’s political culture.
In his post, Charan also claimed that the DMK’s planned protest had failed to gain momentum and alleged that subsequent actions were aimed at attracting public attention through unnecessary provocation. He argued that political discourse should remain respectful and avoid personal or derogatory references.
