SolarEnergy – Andhra Pradesh Targets Six Lakh Solar Connections in 100 Days
SolarEnergy – Andhra Pradesh has set an ambitious deadline to provide solar power access to disadvantaged communities, with the state government pushing for rapid implementation of household connections under a central scheme.

Review Meeting Sets Clear Timeline
Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar has instructed top officials from the state’s power sector to ensure that six lakh households belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes receive solar connections within a strict 100-day timeframe. The directive was issued during a high-level review meeting held at his camp office in Tadepalli, where key stakeholders gathered to assess progress and accelerate implementation.
Senior representatives from electricity distribution companies, renewable energy agencies, and project contractors attended the meeting. Discussions focused on identifying bottlenecks and streamlining coordination to meet the target set by the state leadership.
Focus on Chief Minister’s Deadline
The Minister reiterated that the timeline was in line with the vision outlined by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. Officials were asked to ensure that all pending work is completed within the next three months without compromising execution standards.
He emphasized that the initiative is not just about infrastructure development but also about improving access to sustainable energy for communities that have historically faced economic and social challenges. The government aims to ensure that the benefits of renewable energy reach these households efficiently and fairly.
Daily Targets for Distribution Companies
To maintain momentum, Ravi Kumar directed all distribution companies to adopt a structured approach, setting a daily installation target. Each DISCOM has been tasked with completing at least 2,000 solar connections per day to stay on track with the overall goal.
Officials were advised to prepare detailed action plans that clearly outline responsibilities, timelines, and monitoring mechanisms. The Minister stressed that regular progress reviews would be conducted to ensure accountability at every level.
Emphasis on Quality and Accountability
While pushing for speed, the Minister also highlighted the importance of maintaining high-quality standards in execution. Contractors involved in the project were warned against negligence or substandard work.
He made it clear that any lapses in quality or delays would not be tolerated, signaling a strict approach toward implementation. The state government, he said, remains committed to delivering reliable and durable solar infrastructure that benefits households in the long term.
Advancing Renewable Energy Goals
The PM Surya Ghar initiative is part of a broader effort to promote clean and affordable energy across India. In Andhra Pradesh, the scheme is being implemented with a strong focus on inclusivity, ensuring that underprivileged sections of society are not left behind in the transition to renewable energy.
Officials noted during the meeting that the program has already gained momentum across several districts. With the new directives in place, the government expects to significantly accelerate installations and achieve its targets within the stipulated timeframe.
Commitment to Inclusive Development
Ravi Kumar reiterated that the state’s approach combines speed, efficiency, and fairness. By prioritizing SC and ST households, the government aims to bridge gaps in energy access while supporting environmental sustainability.
The initiative is also expected to reduce electricity costs for beneficiaries and contribute to the state’s renewable energy capacity. As implementation moves forward, authorities will continue to monitor progress closely to ensure that the scheme delivers on its promises.
