The Arunachal Pradesh government has accelerated emergency relief measures after flash floods affected the Poosa area in Keyi Panyor district. Working closely with the Indian Air Force (IAF), state authorities launched coordinated rescue operations to quickly move disaster response personnel and essential equipment into the flood-affected region.
Civil Aviation Department Responds Immediately
According to the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), the Department of Civil Aviation was placed on immediate operational readiness after receiving reports of the flash floods. Officials promptly initiated coordination efforts to ensure that rescue missions could begin without unnecessary delays.
Following a request from the Deputy Commissioner of Keyi Panyor district, the Civil Aviation Department contacted the Eastern Air Command (EAC) in Shillong to arrange air support. The objective was to facilitate the rapid movement of rescue personnel, emergency supplies, and equipment to locations impacted by the flooding.
Indian Air Force Launches Airlift Mission
Responding to the request, the Indian Air Force carried out an airlift operation transporting personnel from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) along with critical relief materials from the Itanagar Capital Region to Pitapool in Keyi Panyor district. The deployment was aimed at strengthening rescue operations already underway in the affected area.
Officials stated that the mission was conducted under the supervision of Colonel R. Malhotra from the Ministry of Defence and Group Captain Mukesh Chauhan of the Eastern Air Command. Despite difficult weather conditions, the aircrew successfully reached Hollongi before continuing the operation to Pitapool, ensuring that emergency teams and supplies arrived safely.
Relief Operations Continue Across Affected Areas
The SDRF personnel immediately joined ongoing rescue and relief activities after reaching the district. Authorities confirmed that additional emergency materials were also transported to support operations on the ground, where teams continue to assist residents affected by the flooding.
The state administration indicated that more air support missions have been planned if required. These additional flights are expected to help deliver further relief supplies and reinforce rescue efforts as officials continue to assess the situation in the district.
State Agencies Appreciate Coordinated Efforts
The Department of Civil Aviation and the Department of Disaster Management expressed appreciation to the Indian Air Force, SDRF personnel, and APD Hollongi for their prompt response and efficient coordination during the emergency. Officials noted that the timely deployment of air assets played a significant role in speeding up rescue efforts in areas affected by the flash floods.
Authorities also acknowledged the contribution of Keyi Panyor Deputy Commissioner Shweta Nagar, Koto Mehta, the district police, and the Disaster Management team. Their coordinated ground support and field-level management helped ensure that relief operations continued effectively despite challenging conditions caused by the flooding.
