Security – Delhi Assembly Tightens Measures After Serious Security Breach
Security – A day after a significant security lapse at the Delhi Assembly raised concerns, Speaker Vijender Gupta convened a high-level meeting on Tuesday to assess the situation and outline immediate corrective steps. Stressing the gravity of the incident, Gupta stated that even the smallest oversight in securing the Assembly premises is unacceptable and must be addressed without delay.
Urgent Steps to Strengthen Security Infrastructure
During the review, the Speaker called for swift enhancements to the Assembly’s security framework. Among the measures proposed were the installation of hydraulic road blockers at all entry gates and the reinforcement of access control systems. He also directed authorities to develop a more agile and responsive on-ground security setup capable of handling emergencies efficiently.
Officials examined the sequence of events leading to the breach in detail. Surveillance footage from the premises is currently undergoing technical analysis to identify gaps and determine how the incident unfolded.
Coordination Between Agencies Under Scrutiny
A key focus of the meeting was the coordination between multiple security agencies deployed at the Assembly. Gupta underlined the need for a clearly defined command structure involving both the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Delhi Police. He recommended establishing a single point of authority to ensure faster decision-making and seamless coordination during critical situations.
According to Gupta, delays in communication can significantly weaken response effectiveness. He emphasized that real-time information sharing between agencies must become a standard practice to improve operational readiness and avoid confusion during emergencies.
Entry and Exit Points to Be Closely Monitored
The Speaker also highlighted the importance of stricter access management within the Assembly complex. He directed that all entry and exit points be fortified through better positioning of personnel, stricter verification protocols, and improved infrastructure.
