Security – Delhi Assembly Breach Leads to Police Action and Probe
Security – The suspension of two police personnel and an ongoing investigation into a security breach at the Delhi Assembly have raised concerns about preparedness and response systems.

A recent security breach at the Delhi Assembly has prompted swift disciplinary action and a wider review of safety protocols. The Delhi Police have suspended a sub-inspector and an assistant sub-inspector from the security unit after preliminary findings indicated lapses in duty. Authorities have also proposed structural improvements, including routine mock drills and the installation of a centralized alarm system to ensure faster and more coordinated emergency responses.
Incident Triggers Immediate Administrative Response
According to officials, the breach occurred when a man managed to drive a vehicle into the Assembly premises through a restricted VIP gate. The incident exposed gaps in on-ground vigilance, leading to immediate action against the personnel responsible for security at the entry point. Senior officers have recommended conducting monthly preparedness exercises to strengthen response capabilities in high-security zones.
In addition, authorities are considering deploying an integrated alert system that would allow real-time communication and centralized monitoring during emergencies. These measures are expected to reduce response time and improve coordination among different security units.
Accused’s Background and Motive Under Examination
The man arrested in connection with the breach has been identified as 37-year-old Sarabjeet Singh. Investigators revealed that he had reportedly come to Delhi while searching for his missing nephew. Officials believe that his actions may have been driven by distress and an attempt to draw attention to the situation.
Police said Sarabjeet entered the Assembly premises, left a bouquet and a garland inside the Speaker’s vehicle, and then exited the location. He was arrested later the same day, and the car used in the incident—purchased earlier this year—was recovered.
Missing Person Case Linked to Incident
Family members informed authorities that Sarabjeet’s nephew, Harman, a B.Tech student residing in West Delhi, had gone missing on April 1. His last known location was traced to Anandpur Sahib in Punjab. A missing person complaint had been filed at the Hari Nagar police station.
During the investigation, police tracked Sarabjeet’s movements and discovered that he had traveled to Punjab as part of his efforts to locate the missing student. It was also reported that he had a disagreement with Harman’s father over not being informed about the disappearance earlier, which may have contributed to his emotional state.
Taxi Drivers Detained, Role Being Verified
Sources indicated that Sarabjeet was initially alone when he entered the Assembly complex. Later, he reportedly hired two taxi drivers for assistance in navigating the city, as he was unfamiliar with Delhi’s routes. The drivers claimed that he repeatedly asked for directions to Parliament and requested visits to several religious sites.
All three individuals were detained for questioning. While no direct involvement of the taxi drivers has been established so far, police are continuing to verify their statements as part of standard procedure.
Ongoing Investigation and Health Claims
Investigators are currently examining call detail records to gather more information about Sarabjeet’s movements and possible contacts. Officials stated that all aspects of the case, including his intentions, are being closely scrutinized.
Meanwhile, Sarabjeet’s family has submitted medical documents suggesting that he has been undergoing treatment for several years. Authorities are verifying these claims. Police officials in Uttar Pradesh also confirmed that the family mentioned ongoing treatment at a hospital in Shahjahanpur. Sarabjeet is reported to reside in Narayanpur with his wife and son.
The investigation remains ongoing, with officials emphasizing that further findings will determine the next course of action.
