Security Review Conducted for Vaishno Devi Yatra
In a separate development, senior police and security officials held a comprehensive review meeting in Katra to evaluate security preparations ahead of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra and the expected increase in pilgrim arrivals during SANJY 2026.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Inspector General of Police Shiv Kumar Sharma of the Udhampur-Reasi Range. It brought together senior officers from the district police, Army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Intelligence Bureau, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Railway Police, Traffic Police, and representatives of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board.
Detailed Assessment of Security Arrangements

Authorities also assessed the effectiveness of the deployment strategy across the entire route leading from Katra to Bhawan. The objective was to ensure uninterrupted security coverage and maintain a safe environment for devotees throughout the pilgrimage.
Increased Vigilance in Sensitive Areas

The DIG directed security personnel to strengthen surveillance and maintain an effective presence at vulnerable points to reduce the possibility of any security threat.
Officials also stressed the need for regular inspections and verification of hotels, guest houses, lodges, homestays, and other accommodation facilities frequently used by pilgrims. These measures are intended to improve overall preparedness during the peak pilgrimage season.
Coordination Among Agencies Remains a Priority
The meeting concluded with an emphasis on seamless coordination between all participating agencies. Officials highlighted the importance of timely intelligence sharing, rapid response capabilities, and close operational cooperation to address any emerging security challenges.
