Scholarship – New Bank Account Deadline Set for Intermediate Students

Scholarship –  Students belonging to Scheduled Caste communities who have enrolled in the first year of Intermediate studies for the 2026-27 academic session must complete specific banking formalities before June 11 to remain eligible for benefits under the Thalliki Vandanam scheme.

Scholarship bank account deadline students

District SC Welfare and Empowerment Officer K.L. Harshita announced on Sunday that newly admitted Intermediate first-year students are required to open a fresh bank account and ensure that it is linked through the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) platform within the prescribed deadline. The move is aimed at facilitating the direct transfer of financial assistance available under the government welfare programme.

Banking Process Simplified for Students

Officials stated that eligible students can open a new bank account without submitting a Permanent Account Number (PAN) card. The facility is available at nearby branches of major public sector banks, including State Bank of India, Union Bank of India, Indian Bank, and Canara Bank.

To complete the account opening process, students need only provide their Aadhaar card and a registered mobile number. Authorities have encouraged applicants to begin the procedure immediately to avoid last-minute delays and ensure uninterrupted access to scheme benefits.

Registration Required at Ward Secretariats

Apart from opening a new account, students and their parents have also been advised to visit their nearest Swarna Ward Secretariat. During the visit, beneficiaries must register their details with Ward Welfare and Education personnel responsible for assisting applicants under various government welfare initiatives.

Officials said that staff members at these centres will provide guidance regarding eligibility requirements, documentation, and the account-linking process. Families are encouraged to verify all information carefully and ensure that the bank account is opened exclusively in the student’s name.

NPCI Linking Mandatory for Benefit Transfer

According to the welfare department, simply opening a bank account will not be sufficient for receiving assistance under the scheme. The newly created account must also be successfully linked with the NPCI system, which enables direct benefit transfers from government departments to beneficiaries.

Authorities have stressed that completing the NPCI linkage is a crucial requirement. Failure to finish the process before the specified date could result in delays or difficulties in receiving financial support provided through the Thalliki Vandanam programme.

Officials Urge Timely Compliance

The district administration has appealed to students and parents not to wait until the final days before the deadline. Welfare officials emphasized that early completion of all formalities will help prevent technical issues and ensure that eligible students receive benefits without interruption.

The department reiterated that adherence to the June 11 deadline is essential for all newly admitted Intermediate first-year SC students in NTR district seeking assistance under the scheme. Students who complete account creation, registration, and NPCI linkage on time will be positioned to receive the intended support through the government’s welfare framework.
