Safety – Women assistance services and public security initiatives in Delhi-

Safety –  The Delhi Police has widened its women safety network across the national capital by operating 122 active pink booths in key public areas. These assistance centres have been placed near schools, colleges, markets, and crowded locations to ensure women and girls can access immediate help whenever required.

Women safety support delhi police

The initiative is aimed at strengthening public confidence while improving the visibility of police support in busy urban spaces. Officials said the booths are not only serving as emergency help points but are also encouraging women to report issues without hesitation.

Pink Booths Spread Across Multiple Districts

According to Delhi Police data, all 15 police districts in the city currently manage these booths. North and Dwarka districts have the highest number, with 14 booths each. West district operates 12, while northwest and Shahdara districts have 11 each.

Outer district has 10 booths, while Rohini and southeast districts have seven each. Outer north, New Delhi, and central districts manage six booths each. East and northeast districts have five booths each, southwest district has four, south district has three, and one booth functions at IGI Airport.

Officials said the booths were strategically positioned in areas with heavy public movement so that assistance remains easily accessible throughout the day.

Immediate Help for Everyday Complaints

A woman police officer deployed at the Sarojini Nagar pink booth said female staff members remain available until the market closes every evening.

She explained that many complaints involve verbal arguments, minor scuffles, snatching incidents, misplaced mobile phones, and disagreements between shoppers and shopkeepers over pricing or product exchanges. According to her, several such matters are resolved immediately at the location itself, preventing situations from escalating further.

Police personnel at these booths are also helping visitors understand complaint procedures and providing guidance during stressful situations.

Students Frequently Seek Assistance

At the pink booth located near Delhi University’s north campus, another woman officer said students regularly approach the staff regarding missing identity cards, lost phones, or snatching incidents.

She noted that the booth staff assist complainants in filing missing reports and also explain how students can independently use the Delhi Police online services portal for future needs. Officials believe such support is especially useful for students who may not be familiar with legal or administrative procedures.

The presence of women officers at these locations has also made it easier for young women to approach the police comfortably in sensitive situations.

Building Confidence in Public Spaces

Women visiting crowded markets and educational areas said the booths contribute to a stronger sense of security. Shubhangi Singh, a shopper at Sarojini Nagar market, said that even though she never personally needed assistance, the visible presence of the booth offers reassurance.

She added that women feel more confident knowing immediate help is available nearby during emergencies or uncomfortable situations in crowded public places.

Police officials stated that the booths have become approachable contact points where women can openly report concerns without fear or hesitation. Since these booths are staffed by female personnel, many women reportedly find it easier to discuss sensitive matters.

Authorities believe the initiative is helping improve communication between the police and the public while promoting a safer environment for women across Delhi’s busy commercial and educational zones
