Rohini- Building Collapse Leaves One Dead as Rescue Teams Search Debris
Rohini- A 42-year-old man died after an under-construction building collapsed in North Delhi’s Rohini on Wednesday afternoon, while rescue teams continued searching for several people believed to be trapped under the debris.

The incident was reported from G Block in Sector 16, Rohini, where a structure at property numbers G-4/152 and G-4/153 gave way at around 4:28 pm, according to police. Officials said the property is linked to two women identified as Manju and Ritika.
Police secure the site after emergency call
Police teams reached the location shortly after receiving a PCR call and cordoned off the area to prevent further risk. Nearby buildings were evacuated as a precaution while authorities arranged clear access routes for fire engines, ambulances and heavy rescue equipment.
The Delhi Police also deployed personnel to manage crowds and traffic around the site. Officials said the arrangements were made to allow emergency workers to operate without obstruction during the rescue operation.
One worker declared dead after being pulled from rubble
Rescuers first brought out Ram Kishore, 42, from beneath the collapsed structure. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Another worker, Ravi, 35, was rescued alive. Police identified him as a POP worker who had been present at the construction site when the building collapsed. His condition was not immediately disclosed by officials.
Several people may still be trapped
Authorities said the search operation was continuing as there were reports that more people could be buried under the rubble. The building owner, Ram Dua, is among those believed to be trapped, according to the Rohini district police.
Officials also said four to five labourers may still be inside the damaged structure. The exact number of people present at the site at the time of the collapse has not yet been confirmed.
Rescue workers were carefully removing concrete slabs and other material while assessing the stability of the remaining portions of the building. The operation was being carried out cautiously to avoid causing further movement in the debris.
Multiple agencies join coordinated rescue operation
The rescue effort includes teams from Delhi Police, Delhi Fire Service, the National Disaster Response Force, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Tata Power and ambulance services. Private JCB machines and two Hydra cranes were also brought in to help remove heavy sections of concrete.
Emergency personnel remained at the site through the operation, using specialised equipment to reach areas that could not be accessed manually. The involvement of several agencies was aimed at speeding up the search while maintaining safety standards around the unstable structure.
Contact made with person under collapsed structure
During the operation, rescue teams established contact with one person believed to be trapped deep inside the debris. Officials provided drinking water to the individual while efforts continued to reach him.
An oxygen cylinder was also arranged from a nearby hospital to assist the trapped person. Rescue teams continued working to create a safe passage through the rubble, with cranes and excavators being used under close supervision.
Authorities have not yet stated what caused the collapse. Further investigation is expected after the rescue work is completed and the site is declared safe for inspection.
