RoadAccident – A tragic road accident in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur district claimed the lives of three people and left several others seriously injured after a speeding truck collided with an e-rickshaw in the Matguwan police station area on Sunday. Police officials said the truck driver escaped immediately after the crash, and search operations are ongoing to trace him.
Police Confirm Multiple Casualties
According to Superintendent of Police Rajat Saklecha, the collision took place when a truck reportedly hit the e-rickshaw carrying local passengers. Initial reports suggested one fatality at the scene, but later updates confirmed that three victims had died due to severe injuries.
Police officials stated that most of the passengers travelling in the e-rickshaw belonged to the same family and were moving within the nearby area at the time of the accident. Authorities added that emergency teams quickly reached the location and shifted the injured to the district hospital for urgent treatment.
Victims Undergoing Treatment in Critical Condition
Doctors at the Chhatarpur District Hospital confirmed that seven injured individuals were brought to the medical facility after the accident. Medical teams immediately began treatment, but three victims could not survive.
District Hospital doctor Ravi Soni said the truck crashed into the rear side of the vehicle in which the victims were travelling. He noted that four injured patients remain in critical condition and are under close medical supervision.
Among those who lost their lives were two young girls from the same family along with an adult male relative. Hospital officials stated that the condition of the surviving victims continues to be serious, and doctors are making every effort to stabilize them.
Driver Escapes After the Collision
Police said the truck driver fled from the accident site shortly after the incident. A search operation has been launched to identify and arrest the accused driver. Investigators are also examining the exact cause of the collision and collecting statements from witnesses present near the area.
Officials added that the damaged e-rickshaw and truck details are being examined as part of the investigation. Law enforcement teams are checking nearby routes and local surveillance inputs to track the movement of the absconding driver.
Rising Concerns Over Road Safety
The incident has once again raised concerns about road safety and heavy vehicle movement on district roads in Madhya Pradesh. Local residents said accidents involving trucks and smaller passenger vehicles have become increasingly common in several areas due to overspeeding and negligent driving.
Authorities have appealed to drivers to follow traffic regulations and remain cautious, especially on local roads where small transport vehicles frequently operate. Police officials also assured that strict action would be taken once the truck driver is located.
Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem examination, and further legal procedures are being carried out by the local administration. Investigators said a detailed probe into the accident remains underway.
