Emergency Braking Prevents Possible Accident
According to railway officials, the incident occurred between Iradatganj and Link Station under the North Central Railway zone. While operating the Banaras-Mumbai Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) Express, the loco pilot spotted an iron pipe placed on the railway track ahead. Reacting without delay, the pilot applied the emergency brakes, bringing the train to a safe halt before it reached the obstruction.
Officials said the timely response played a crucial role in avoiding what could have developed into a dangerous situation.

Soon after stopping the train, the loco pilot informed railway control and other concerned authorities about the obstruction. Railway personnel were dispatched to the location to assess the situation and ensure that the track was safe for movement.
North Central Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Shivam Sharma stated that preliminary findings indicate the iron pipe had likely been thrown onto the railway track. He added that the object was hollow and showed signs of heavy rust, suggesting it was an old metal pipe rather than railway equipment.
Obstruction Cleared Within Minutes
The Banaras-Mumbai LTT Express, which was travelling from Varanasi to Mumbai, remained halted only briefly while railway staff removed the pipe from the track. After a thorough inspection confirmed that the route was clear and safe for operation, the train resumed its journey within a few minutes.
Railway officials emphasized that standard safety protocols were followed before granting permission for the train to proceed, ensuring that passengers faced only minimal disruption.

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has registered a case against unidentified individuals in connection with the incident. Investigators are working to determine how the iron pipe reached the railway line and whether the act was accidental or intentional.
