Railway – Young Couple Found Dead on Delhi Railway Tracks as Investigation Continues
Railway –A young man and woman were found dead on railway tracks between Hazrat Nizamuddin and Okhla railway stations in Delhi. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact sequence of events surrounding the tragedy.
Police said the incident came to light on Sunday evening after the Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Police Station received an official railway memo at approximately 8:47 pm. Officers were immediately dispatched to the location, where they discovered the bodies of a 23-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman lying on the railway tracks. A forensic team was also called to examine the scene and collect evidence as part of the initial investigation.
Victims Identified Through Official Documents
During the inspection, investigators recovered an Aadhaar card from the man’s belongings, allowing them to identify him as Sagar, 23, a resident of Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh. The woman was later identified as Shivani, 20, who was also from Bulandshahr. Police subsequently informed the families of both victims about the incident.
Officials confirmed that the bodies have been kept at the mortuary of Lok Nayak Hospital while the legal formalities continue. Authorities have initiated proceedings under Section 194(1) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) as part of the standard legal process.
Preliminary Findings Point to Suspected Suicide
According to senior police officials, the initial investigation indicates that the couple may have died after coming in front of a moving train in what is suspected to be a case of suicide. However, investigators have not reached a final conclusion and are continuing to verify all available evidence before confirming the circumstances of the deaths.
Police emphasized that every aspect of the case is being examined carefully to ensure the findings are based on verified facts rather than assumptions. Further investigation will determine whether any additional factors contributed to the incident.
