Politics – The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) commemorated its 44th foundation day on Sunday with celebrations held across the Kondapi and Addanki Assembly segments in Ongole district. The events brought together senior ministers, elected representatives, and party workers, reflecting the organisation’s long-standing presence in the state’s political landscape.
Leaders Join Celebrations in Kondapi Segment
In the Kondapi Assembly constituency, Social Welfare Minister Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy and Roads, Buildings, Infrastructure and Investments Minister BC Janardhan Reddy participated in the commemorative events. They were joined by local MLAs and party leaders, who marked the occasion with traditional party activities and interactions with cadres.
The gathering focused on acknowledging the party’s journey over more than four decades, highlighting its organisational strength and the role of grassroots workers in sustaining its growth.
Tribute Ceremony Held in Addanki Constituency
In the Addanki segment, Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar attended a separate event in Kamepalli village. As part of the ceremony, he paid tribute to the party’s founder and former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao. Floral offerings were made at the leader’s statue, followed by the hoisting of the party flag in the presence of local leaders and supporters.
The event drew participation from party workers across nearby areas, underlining continued engagement at the village level.
Focus on Party Legacy and Growth
Addressing attendees, Energy Minister Ravi Kumar spoke about the party’s resilience over the past 44 years. He noted that despite facing several political challenges, the party continued to move forward due to the commitment and efforts of its cadre base.
He also referred to recent political developments, stating that attempts to weaken the party’s morale had instead strengthened the resolve of its workers, contributing to its return to power.
Recalling Historical Milestones
During his remarks, the minister highlighted a key milestone in the party’s early years, noting that it achieved electoral success within a short span after its formation. He also reflected on the legacy of N.T. Rama Rao, describing how the leader introduced significant changes in governance despite initial criticism when entering politics from the film industry.
According to him, the current coalition government is working in alignment with those foundational principles by implementing welfare schemes and delivering on electoral commitments.
Call for Grassroots Outreach
The minister urged party members to actively communicate government initiatives to the public, emphasizing the importance of direct engagement with citizens. He also criticised opposition narratives, alleging that misleading claims were being made regarding credit for various development programmes.
He further remarked on previous governance, suggesting that certain commitments made to the public had not been fulfilled, and stressed the need for accountability in political leadership.

Across both constituencies, the foundation day events served as an opportunity for leaders to reconnect with party workers and reinforce organisational goals.
