Politics – PM Modi Set for Hyderabad Rally Ahead of Telangana Push

Politics – Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Hyderabad on May 10, where he will address a major public gathering organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party as the party sharpens its political campaign in Telangana ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy announced the visit on Thursday, stating that the BJP leadership is focusing strongly on increasing its presence in the state and working toward forming what the party describes as a “double-engine government” in Telangana.

BJP Targets Stronger Position in Telangana

Speaking to the media, Reddy said the upcoming rally in Hyderabad is expected to draw a large crowd and will serve as a significant political event for the party in the state. He added that the BJP is stepping up its campaign efforts by highlighting governance and development issues in Telangana.

According to him, both the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) administration and the current Congress-led government have failed to fulfil several promises made to the people over the past decade. He also claimed that the state is facing growing economic and financial challenges, which the BJP plans to raise prominently during the campaign.

Telangana Assembly Numbers After 2023 Polls

The political landscape in Telangana shifted considerably after the 2023 Assembly elections. The Congress emerged as the single largest party by securing 64 seats in the 119-member Assembly, crossing the majority mark comfortably.

The BRS, which had governed the state earlier, became the second-largest party with 39 seats. The BJP, despite expanding its campaign efforts in recent years, won eight seats in the election. Meanwhile, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen maintained its influence in Hyderabad by winning seven constituencies, while the Communist Party of India managed to secure one seat.

Modi Continues Active Political Outreach

The Hyderabad rally announcement came on the same day Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in political events in Bihar. Earlier on Thursday, Modi attended a cabinet expansion ceremony in Patna and later held a roadshow in the city.

The Bihar cabinet expansion took place at Gandhi Maidan, where leaders from the BJP, Janata Dal (United), and other allies of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) took oath as ministers. The development is being viewed as part of the NDA’s broader political preparations ahead of future electoral contests in the state.

Several Leaders Take Oath in Bihar Cabinet Expansion

Among those inducted into the Bihar cabinet were Shrawon Kumar, Vijay Kumar Sinha, Dilip Kumar Jaiswal, Nishant Kumar, Leshi Singh, Ram Kripal Yadav, Nitish Mishra, Damodar Rawat, Sanjay Singh (Tiger), and Ashok Choudhary.

Political observers believe the recent developments in both Telangana and Bihar indicate that the BJP is intensifying organisational activity across multiple states as national and regional political alignments continue to evolve.
