The gathering included National Conference president and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah, PDP leader Iltija Mufti, Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather, and Congress veteran Saif-ud-Din Soz.

The occasion was the release of “Healer in Exile,” a book by Sachin Razdan that chronicles the life and work of renowned neurologist Dr. Sushil Razdan, a member of the Kashmiri Pandit community.

Symbolism Beyond the Event

Observers view Mirwaiz’s presence as significant, given the historical divide between separatist and mainstream political actors in the region. Such a shared platform was once considered unthinkable, especially during the peak years of militancy.

The event also highlighted the legacy of Kashmiri Pandits, many of whom left the Valley during the early years of insurgency and resettled in different parts of India, including Jammu and New Delhi.
