PM Modi: At Ranaghat in the Nadia district of West Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will open and lay the foundation stone for two National Highway projects valued at over Rs 3,200 crore on Saturday.
The Press Information Bureau (PIB) said in a statement Friday that he will also speak to the crowd on the occasion.
Two National Highway projects totaling around Rs 3,200 crore will be inaugurated and the foundation stone laid by the Prime Minister. The Barajaguli-Karnanagar Section of NH-34, which is 66.7 km long and 4-laned, will be inaugurated by the prime minister in West Bengal’s Nadia District. Additionally, he will lay the foundation stone for the 4-laning of the 17.6 km Barasat-Barajaguli Section of NH-34 in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district, according to the release.
In addition to ensuring faster and smoother vehicle movement for unhindered traffic flow, the projects will serve as a crucial connecting link between Kolkata and Siliguri, reducing travel time by roughly two hours. They will also lower vehicle operating costs and improve connectivity between Kolkata and other neighboring districts of West Bengal as well as with neighboring countries.
According to the statement, “the projects will also boost the economic growth in the region and will provide impetus to the growth of tourism across the region.”
On Friday, Prime Minister Modi also commented on the incident on social media.
“I’m excited to spend tomorrow, December 20, with the people of West Bengal. The Prime Minister posted on his official X feed, “I will be attending a public event in Ranaghat, Nadia district, at approximately 11:15 AM, where development projects valued at Rs. 3,200 crore will either be inaugurated or their foundation stones laid.”
