Parliament – Modi Urges MPs Over 40 to Prioritise Yoga and Annual Health Checks

Parliament –  Prime Minister Narendra Modi used a breakfast interaction with lawmakers to stress the importance of maintaining good health and discussed development priorities for eastern and northeastern India.

Modi advises mps yoga health checks

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met around 45 Lok Sabha MPs for breakfast at his official residence on Friday, in an interaction that brought together lawmakers who had recently joined the ruling National Democratic Alliance from different political parties.

Modi’s Health Advice to Senior MPs

During the meeting, Modi specifically advised parliamentarians above the age of 40 to make yoga part of their regular routine and undergo a health check-up every year. NCPI MP Satabdi Roy said the Prime Minister asked the lawmakers about their yoga habits and encouraged those in the age group to pay greater attention to their health.

The advice came during an informal interaction that also covered political and developmental matters. According to the MPs who attended, the discussion was presented as an opportunity for members of the NDA to interact directly with the Prime Minister.

Focus on NDA’s Collective Identity

The lawmakers described the breakfast gathering as a positive and useful interaction. They said Modi highlighted the NDA’s identity as a family and stressed the importance of working together within the alliance.

The meeting was attended by MPs who have recently become part of the NDA after shifting from different political groupings. Their participation comes against the backdrop of efforts to strengthen coordination among alliance partners in Parliament.

Discussion on Eastern and Northeastern States

Development in eastern and northeastern parts of the country was another important subject raised during the conversation.

NCPI leader Sudip Bandyopadhyay said the Prime Minister spoke about the development of the eastern and northeastern regions. The discussion focused on the need to contribute toward the development of the North-East and work in line with the broader vision outlined by Modi.

The lawmakers indicated that regional development remained an important part of the exchange, with emphasis on collective efforts to advance projects and priorities in these parts of the country.

Muslim NCPI MPs Attend the Gathering

Three Muslim MPs from the NCPI — Khalilur Rahaman, Yusuf Pathan and Abu Taher Khan — were also among those present at the breakfast meeting.

The three lawmakers had earlier not attended the NDA parliamentary party’s ‘Mangal Milan’ gathering on two occasions. Their participation in Friday’s breakfast meeting marked their presence alongside other members of the alliance.

The gathering therefore brought together MPs from several political backgrounds, including recently inducted members as well as senior leaders representing NDA allies.

Several Alliance Leaders Among Invitees

The list of invitees also included prominent leaders from various NDA constituents. Union Minister and RPI (Athawale) chief Ramdas Athawale attended the meeting, along with Rashtriya Lok Morcha president and Rajya Sabha member Upendra Kushwaha.

AIADMK leader and Rajya Sabha member M Thambi Durai was also present. UPPL chief and Rajya Sabha member Pramod Boro was among the other leaders who joined the interaction.

The breakfast meeting combined discussions on personal well-being with broader political and developmental issues, while giving MPs from different alliance partners an opportunity to interact with the Prime Minister.
