NEET UG 2026 – Thousands of medical aspirants across the country received a fresh update on Friday after the National Testing Agency announced a new date for the NEET UG 2026 re-examination. The revised test will now be conducted on June 21 following the cancellation of the earlier examination amid allegations linked to a paper leak and other irregularities.
Government Approves Fresh Examination Schedule
The National Testing Agency confirmed that the decision to conduct the examination again was taken with the approval of the Government of India. In an official statement shared through social media, the agency advised students and parents to depend only on verified communication channels for authentic information regarding the examination process.
According to the notification, the re-exam for NEET UG 2026 will be held nationwide on Sunday, June 21. The agency is expected to release admit cards a few days before the examination date, most likely within four to five days prior to the test.
No Additional Fee for Candidates
The examination authority also clarified that students will not have to pay any extra fee to appear for the re-test. Candidates who had already completed registration for the May 3 examination will automatically remain eligible for the June 21 exam without submitting a fresh application or payment.
This announcement has brought some relief to lakhs of students and families who were uncertain about the next step after the cancellation of the earlier examination. Many aspirants had been waiting for confirmation regarding the revised schedule and admission timeline.
Earlier Examination Cancelled After Allegations
The original NEET UG 2026 examination, conducted on May 3 for admission to undergraduate medical courses across India, was cancelled after allegations of a question paper leak surfaced in several regions. CBI Asked to Conduct Detailed Inquiry
Following the controversy, the central government directed the Central Bureau of Investigation to carry out a comprehensive probe into the alleged irregularities connected to the examination. The inquiry is expected to examine possible breaches in the conduct of the test as well as the involvement of individuals or networks linked to the reported leak.
The issue triggered widespread concern among students, parents, and educational institutions across the country. Many aspirants feared delays in admissions, counselling procedures, and academic sessions because of the uncertainty surrounding the examination.
