Air Force Cadets Complete Pre-Commissioning Training

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh attended the Combined Graduation Parade of the 217th Course at the Air Force Academy in Dundigal, Telangana. The ceremony marked the successful completion of pre-commissioning training for flight cadets preparing to begin their careers as officers in the Indian Air Force.

During the event, Singh reviewed the parade and later participated in the Pipping and Commissioning Ceremony, where the graduating cadets officially received their officer ranks. Addressing the newly commissioned officers, he acknowledged their dedication and emphasized the importance of their transition from training institutions to active military service.

The Combined Graduation Parade represents a major achievement for Air Force trainees, symbolizing the end of a demanding training period and the beginning of their responsibilities as commissioned officers entrusted with safeguarding the nation’s airspace.

President Reviews Indian Military Academy Parade

On the same day, President Droupadi Murmu, who serves as the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, reviewed the Spring Term 2026 Passing Out Parade at the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun.

The ceremony took place at the renowned Chetwode Building Drill Square and was attended by several dignitaries, including Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The parade celebrated the successful completion of training for cadets belonging to the 158th Regular Course and the 141st Technical Graduate Course.

More Than 500 Cadets Join the Indian Army

A total of 515 Gentleman and Lady Cadets successfully completed their training and were commissioned into the Indian Army following the parade. Among them were nine women cadets who completed the rigorous military program alongside their male colleagues.

The graduating group also included 34 officer cadets representing 16 friendly foreign nations. After completing their training in India, these cadets will return to serve in the armed forces of their respective countries, further strengthening international military cooperation and professional ties.

Historic Moment for Women in Military Leadership

This year’s Passing Out Parade carried special historical significance for the Indian Military Academy. For the first time in the institution’s 94-year history, a batch of women officer cadets graduated from the academy and earned commissions as officers in the Indian Army.

The nine women cadets, who joined the academy in July 2025, successfully completed the same demanding training standards required of all officer cadets. Their participation in the parade alongside male cadets marked a milestone in the evolving structure of military leadership within the country.

A Symbol of Dedication and Service

For every cadet, the Passing Out Parade signifies far more than a ceremonial display. It marks the culmination of months of disciplined preparation, physical endurance, academic instruction, and military training. The event represents the moment when trainees formally assume the responsibilities of commissioned officers.

The commissioning of the first women officer cadets trained at the Indian Military Academy is being viewed as an important development in the ongoing expansion of opportunities within the armed forces. Their graduation reflects broader efforts to promote greater representation and inclusivity while maintaining the professional standards expected of military officers.
