Mercedes – Driver Arrested After Fatal Scooter Crash in Jahangirpuri
Mercedes – A scooter rider died after he was allegedly struck by a Mercedes car on Delhi’s Outer Ring Road in the Jahangirpuri area, police said on Tuesday. The vehicle reportedly left the location after the crash, while the driver was later identified and arrested by police.

Collision Reported Near Jahangirpuri Bus Stand
The incident took place on July 5 near the Jahangirpuri Bus Stand in northwest Delhi. The victim, identified as Deepak, was travelling on a scooter when the luxury vehicle allegedly hit him on the busy stretch of road.
Deepak, who lived in Mangolpuri, suffered serious injuries in the accident. People at the spot and emergency responders arranged for him to be taken to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital. Doctors declared him dead after he was brought to the hospital, according to police.
Police Trace Vehicle Through PCR Call
Investigators began searching for the car after receiving information through a PCR call. The caller reportedly shared details that helped police identify the Mercedes involved in the accident.
Police later located the vehicle, which carried a Haryana registration number. Officers then contacted the registered owner and issued a notice under Section 133 of the Motor Vehicles Act, seeking information about who had been driving the car when the collision occurred.
Registered Owner Identifies Driver
During the inquiry, the owner reportedly named Ansh Pratap Singh as the person behind the wheel at the time of the accident. Police subsequently detained and arrested Singh in connection with the case.
The Mercedes has also been taken into police custody as part of the investigation. Officials are examining the circumstances surrounding the collision and gathering evidence from the scene and other available sources.
Case Filed Under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita
A case has been registered at Jahangirpuri police station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The sections include Section 281, related to rash driving, and Section 106(1), which concerns causing death through negligence.
Police have not shared further details about the sequence of events leading to the crash. The investigation remains ongoing, and officers are expected to review witness statements, vehicle records and other evidence before taking further action.
