Persistent rainfall led to a landslide at Chandsaili Ghat in Maharashtra’s Nandurbar district, disrupting road connectivity on the Taloda-Dhadgaon route. Officials from the District Disaster Management Office (DDMO) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) confirmed that rocks and loose debris tumbled down the hillside onto the roadway on Friday, forcing authorities to immediately suspend traffic movement. Despite the disruption, no deaths or injuries have been reported, and emergency teams continue to monitor the area while restoration work progresses.
Road Blocked After Hillside Collapse
The landslide occurred in the Chandsaili Ghat section, a region located within the Satpura mountain range that frequently experiences slope failures during the monsoon season. The continuous spell of heavy rain weakened the hillside, causing large rocks and soil to slide onto the road. As a precautionary measure, traffic was halted to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of commuters.
Officials have deployed machinery and workers to remove the accumulated debris from the affected stretch. The administration is working to restore normal traffic as quickly as weather conditions permit. Until the route is declared safe, residents and travelers have been advised to avoid the Taloda-Dhadgaon road and choose alternative routes wherever possible.

In a separate development, Nashik district experienced a mild earthquake during the early hours of Thursday. According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake measured magnitude 3.8 and occurred at 2:37:41 a.m. Indian Standard Time.
The seismic event originated at a depth of 5 kilometres below the Earth’s surface. The recorded epicentre was located at latitude 20.448 North and longitude 73.708 East. The NCS shared the details through its official update, confirming the location, magnitude, and depth of the earthquake.
No immediate reports of injuries or significant property damage were received following the tremor. Authorities continue to monitor the situation, while residents were advised to remain calm and report any unusual structural damage to local officials if noticed.
