Jharkhand – State Expands Student Support, Artist Welfare, and Academic Recognition
Jharkhand – The Jharkhand government has announced a series of important initiatives aimed at supporting tribal students, recognizing artists, and celebrating academic excellence. The latest decisions focus on improving access to quality education, providing financial assistance to deserving individuals, and encouraging outstanding student achievements across the state.

Free Coaching Initiative for Tribal Aspirants
In a significant step toward improving educational opportunities, tribal students from Jharkhand will soon receive free coaching for competitive examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC). The non-residential coaching programme will be organized by the Dr Ram Dayal Munda Tribal Welfare Research Institute (TRI), which functions under the state’s Welfare Department.
The initiative has been introduced to help talented tribal candidates prepare under the guidance of experienced faculty members associated with reputed coaching institutions across the country. Selection for the programme will be based on candidates’ academic performance in Class 10, Class 12, and graduation examinations. Officials believe the scheme will improve access to quality preparation for students who may otherwise face financial challenges in pursuing professional coaching.
Monthly Pension Announced for Eligible Artists
The state government has also introduced a new welfare programme designed to provide financial assistance to artists facing economic or health-related difficulties. Under the Monthly Pension (Artist Pension) Scheme, elderly artists, those suffering from serious illnesses, and permanently differently-abled artists will receive financial support from the government.
Eligible beneficiaries will be granted a monthly pension of Rs 4,000. The amount will be transferred directly into Aadhaar-linked bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, ensuring transparency and timely payments. The scheme has been approved under the leadership of Chief Minister Hemant Soren as part of broader efforts to acknowledge the valuable contribution artists have made to preserving and promoting Jharkhand’s rich cultural heritage.
Officials said the programme reflects the government’s commitment to supporting members of the artistic community who have dedicated years to safeguarding traditional art, music, dance, and cultural practices but now require social and financial assistance.
Student Achieves Perfect Score After Revaluation
A remarkable academic achievement has also brought national recognition to Jharkhand. Avni Kejriwal, an 18-year-old student of Delhi Public School, Ranchi, secured the top national position in the CBSE Senior Secondary Certificate Examination 2025-26 after obtaining a perfect score of 500 out of 500 in the Commerce stream.
Interestingly, Avni’s original result showed an overall score of 95.2 percent, with full marks in Accountancy, Applied Mathematics, and Economics. Believing that her remaining subject marks did not accurately reflect her performance, she requested a re-evaluation of her answer sheets.
The reassessment resulted in a revised score of 100 percent, making her one of the country’s highest achievers in the examination. Speaking about her preparation, Avni credited her success to consistency, disciplined study habits, and maintaining a healthy balance between academics and extracurricular activities. She emphasized that steady effort over time played a greater role in her achievement than last-minute preparation.
The recent announcements collectively highlight Jharkhand’s continued focus on expanding educational opportunities, strengthening social welfare programmes, and recognizing exceptional talent. From helping tribal students prepare for prestigious competitive examinations to extending financial support for artists and celebrating academic excellence, these initiatives reflect the state’s broader commitment to inclusive growth and human development.
