JewelryRobbery – A jeweler in Mumbai’s Jogeshwari area was allegedly robbed of cash and gold worth ₹13.3 lakh by three men who posed as police personnel. The incident, which took place late on Saturday night, has prompted a large-scale investigation, with police teams working to identify and apprehend the suspects.

Victim Targeted While Returning Home
According to police officials, the victim, Khokan Nitai Mandal, operates a jewelry business in Jogeshwari. After closing his shop on Saturday evening, he was on his way home carrying a bag that contained ₹12.5 lakh in cash along with 10 grams of gold. The combined value of the items was estimated at ₹13.3 lakh.
The incident reportedly occurred around 11 pm near Smita Bar and the Janshakti Police Chowky in the Premnagar locality. Mandal was walking through the area when he was approached by three unidentified men.
Suspects Claimed to Be Crime Branch Personnel
Investigators said the trio introduced themselves as officers attached to Crime Branch Unit 10. Using their false identity, they allegedly stopped Mandal and informed him that he needed to answer certain questions as part of an inquiry.
The men then directed him toward a nearby Hyundai Aura vehicle. Believing them to be genuine law enforcement officials, Mandal complied and entered the car.
Threats Used During the Robbery
Once inside the vehicle, the situation reportedly escalated. Police sources stated that one of the suspects displayed a firearm and threatened the jeweler with serious consequences if he resisted.
The accused allegedly took possession of the bag containing the cash and gold before driving away from the location. Mandal was left behind and later reported the matter to authorities.
Complaint Registered at Meghwadi Police Station
Soon after the robbery, the victim approached Meghwadi Police Station and filed a formal complaint. Based on the details provided, officers registered a case against three unidentified individuals.
The case has been booked under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) related to robbery and extortion. Investigators are currently gathering evidence and examining all available leads connected to the crime.
CCTV Footage Under Examination
As part of the investigation, police have collected surveillance footage from cameras installed in and around the area where the incident occurred. Officials hope the recordings will help establish the route taken by the suspects and provide clues regarding the vehicle used in the crime.
Technical evidence, including digital and visual records, is also being analyzed to build a clearer picture of the events leading up to and following the robbery.
Crime Branch Joins Investigation
Given the seriousness of the case, senior police officials have instructed both local police units and the Crime Branch to conduct parallel investigations. The coordinated effort is aimed at speeding up the identification of the accused and ensuring their arrest at the earliest.
Authorities believe that examining surveillance data, vehicle movement patterns, and other forensic inputs may help uncover the identities of the individuals involved. Police have assured that all available resources are being utilized to track down the suspects and bring them before the law.
