Investigation – The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday stepped up its probe into the deadly Delhi car bomb explosion by conducting coordinated searches at several locations across Jammu and Kashmir. The action is part of a broader effort to trace networks and individuals suspected of having links to the attack that shook the national capital late last year.
Multiple Locations Targeted in Early Morning Raids
Officials confirmed that search operations were carried out at nine different sites spread across key districts of the Union Territory. The areas covered included Handwara in Kupwara district, Rafiabad in Baramulla, along with selected locations in Kulgam and Srinagar.
Teams of investigators, supported by local police and security personnel, conducted detailed searches at residential and suspected hideout locations. Authorities were focused on gathering evidence, including digital records, documents, and any material that could help establish links between suspects and the larger conspiracy.
Background of the Delhi Blast Incident
The investigation relates to the car bomb explosion that took place near Delhi’s historic Red Fort on November 10. The blast resulted in the deaths of at least 13 people and left several others injured, raising serious concerns about urban security and terror threats.
The incident prompted a nationwide alert and led to the involvement of multiple intelligence and enforcement agencies. The NIA took over the case soon after, given its severity and potential cross-border implications.
Key Accused Identified as University Faculty Member
During the course of the investigation, authorities identified the primary attacker as Umar Un Nabi, who was working as a medical doctor and assistant professor at Al Falah University in Faridabad. According to officials, he carried out the suicide attack using a vehicle packed with explosives.
Investigators believe the accused may have been radicalised over a period of time and could have had logistical or ideological support from a wider network. The agency is examining his background, communication records, and possible associates to understand how the attack was planned and executed.
Arrests and Ongoing Investigation
So far, the NIA has arrested 11 individuals in connection with the case. These arrests were made over several weeks based on evidence collected from surveillance, interrogations, and forensic analysis.
Officials indicated that the individuals detained are suspected to have played varying roles, including providing shelter, facilitating movement, or assisting in planning. However, authorities have not ruled out the possibility of additional arrests as the investigation continues.

The latest searches in Jammu and Kashmir are seen as part of an effort to dismantle any remaining support structures linked to the attack. Investigators are particularly focused on identifying whether there were local modules involved or if the conspiracy extended beyond state or national boundaries.
Security agencies are also analysing electronic devices seized during the raids to uncover communication trails, financial transactions, and any links to extremist organisations.
