Infrastructure – Delhi Plans New Residential Housing Complex for Judicial Officers in Shahdara

Infrastructure – The Delhi government has initiated plans to build a dedicated residential complex for judicial officers in Shahdara’s Central Business District, aiming to strengthen housing infrastructure for members of the judiciary. The proposed project is estimated to cost around Rs 200 crore and will be developed on a one-hectare site in east Delhi.

Project Moves Into Planning Stage

As part of the next phase of development, the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) has invited consultancy firms to provide architectural and engineering planning services. The selected agency will be responsible for designing the entire residential complex and preparing the technical framework required for construction.

Official documents related to the tender indicate that the project has received approval from the Delhi government and is being executed under the supervision of the law department. The initiative is intended to provide modern residential accommodation for judicial officers serving in the capital.

Housing Allocation for Judicial Officers

The planned complex will contain a total of 84 residential units. Of these, 36 apartments will be designated for district judges, while 48 units will be reserved for civil judges. Authorities have outlined separate housing specifications for the two categories of officers to meet their respective requirements.

According to the project details, each apartment allotted to a district judge will have a built-up area of approximately 2,500 square feet. Flats intended for civil judges will offer around 2,000 square feet of space. The design is expected to incorporate functional layouts and modern residential amenities suitable for long-term occupancy.

Land Already Assigned for Development

The land identified for the project measures nearly 10,000 square metres. Officials confirmed that the plot has already been allotted by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and subsequently transferred to the law department for implementation of the housing scheme.

The availability of the land is expected to facilitate smoother progress in the planning and approval stages. Government departments involved in the project are now focusing on finalising designs and obtaining the required clearances before construction activities begin.

Consultant to Oversee Design and Approvals

The consultancy firm selected through the tender process will play a key role in shaping the project. Responsibilities will include preparing concept plans, detailed project reports, architectural designs, structural engineering layouts and related technical documentation.

In addition, the consultant will coordinate with various government agencies to secure statutory approvals required for the development. This process is considered essential for ensuring compliance with building regulations and planning standards.

Detailed Drawings and Cost Planning Included

Apart from conceptual planning, the consultant will also prepare three-dimensional project presentations, detailed working drawings and tender documentation. Cost estimates and execution-related specifications will be developed to support the project’s implementation phase.

Officials expect these detailed plans to provide a comprehensive roadmap for construction and help maintain transparency in project execution. Once the planning and approval procedures are completed, the government is expected to move forward with the construction of the residential complex, which aims to provide quality housing for judicial officers serving in Delhi.
