Infrastructure – Delhi Clears Long-Pending Land Allotments for Public Projects

Infrastructure –  The Delhi Lieutenant Governor, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, has approved the allotment of Delhi Development Authority land for a series of infrastructure projects that had remained pending for several years. Officials said the delays were largely linked to coordination gaps among government departments, which were addressed through a series of reviews led by the Lieutenant Governor.

Delhi clears land allotments projects

Security Projects Receive Land Approval

Land has been cleared for strengthening policing and security facilities across the capital. The approved sites include proposed police stations at Dilkusha Bagh, Sagarpur, Suyurpur and Kishangarh. The plan also includes land for a Forensic Science Laboratory in Narela and Intelligence Bureau facilities at Dheerpur and Tahirpur.

Officials said the administration has placed emphasis on improving cooperation among agencies involved in land use, planning and project execution. The approvals are expected to allow several projects to move from planning stages towards construction and implementation.

Civic Facilities and Welfare Services Included

The allotments also cover public-facing civic infrastructure. Community halls linked to sub-registrar offices are planned at Dwarka Sector 19 and Manglapuri. In addition, the DDA has issued 112 no-objection certificates for Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and five for Atal Canteens.

These approvals are intended to support local service delivery in areas where new public facilities are being planned. The move also reflects an effort to clear administrative requirements that had held up projects involving multiple agencies.

More Land Set Aside for Waste Management

Waste management infrastructure has received a significant share of the new approvals. The DDA has allocated 8.5 hectares at Holambi Kalan for an E-Waste Eco Management Park. At the Ghazipur landfill site, 10 acres have been handed over to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

A further 10.4 acres have been earmarked for expanding waste-to-energy and bio-methanisation facilities. The Municipal Corporation has also received land for 24 Fixed Compactor Transfer Station sites, which are expected to support waste collection and transportation across the city.

Metro, Water and Sewage Works Move Forward

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has been allotted 20 hectares for a Metro depot at Sanoth. Another 16 hectares in Narela have been cleared for a casting yard, a facility used in the construction of Metro infrastructure.

Water and sanitation projects have also been included in the latest land approvals. The Delhi Jal Board has received land for the installation of 151 bore wells. Additional sites have been approved for sewage treatment plants and sewage pumping stations at eight locations.

An independent sewage treatment plant has been planned at Jaunti, while land has also been allotted for an underground water tank at Sangam Vihar. These projects are expected to support water supply and wastewater management in growing residential areas.

Education and Housing Facilities Planned in Narela

The education sector is another key focus of the land allotment decisions. A total of 22.43 acres has been allotted for two campuses of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University in Narela. Delhi Technical University has received 12.69 acres for two additional campuses in the same area.

The Central Sanskrit University has been allotted 1,200 square metres in Narela. Elsewhere, 4.1 acres have been approved for a Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Jwalapuri, along with land for schools in Shalimar Bagh and Karawal Nagar.

The approvals also include staff housing for the judiciary in Rohini and Shahdara. Officials said the combined land decisions are aimed at reducing bottlenecks and accelerating essential public infrastructure across Delhi.
