Leaders Reaffirm Commitment to Stronger Ties

Following the meeting, President Lee shared his views on social media, emphasizing the shared commitment of both countries to deepen cooperation in multiple areas. He stated that India and South Korea had agreed to strengthen collaboration across economic, cultural, and social sectors while working toward a more advanced and forward-looking partnership.

The discussion reflected a mutual desire to build on the strong foundation already established between the two nations. Both leaders underscored the value of closer engagement in emerging industries and innovation-driven sectors that are expected to play a major role in future economic growth.

Focus on Emerging and Strategic Sectors

During the talks, Prime Minister Modi recalled President Lee’s recent visit to India and expressed confidence that bilateral relations would continue to expand. The leaders explored opportunities in areas linked to future technologies, industrial development, and economic cooperation.

President Lee had visited India earlier this year, where both sides agreed on a Joint Strategic Vision aimed at strengthening the India–Republic of Korea Special Strategic Partnership over the next five years. The framework is expected to guide cooperation from 2026 to 2030 and create new avenues for collaboration in critical sectors.

Officials from both countries have repeatedly highlighted the importance of increasing exchanges in technology, manufacturing, innovation, and trade, which remain key pillars of the partnership.

G7 Summit Addresses Global Challenges

The bilateral meeting took place alongside discussions at the G7 Summit, where leaders from various countries gathered to address pressing international issues. Global security, economic stability, geopolitical tensions, and international cooperation were among the major topics under consideration.

As a partner nation, India participated in the summit’s outreach process, continuing its long-standing engagement with the forum. This year marked India’s 13th participation in the outreach discussions, reflecting its growing role in international policymaking and global governance conversations.

Modi Highlights Dialogue as Path to Peace

Speaking during the Outreach Session titled “Forging New Partnerships and Rebuilding International Solidarity,” Prime Minister Modi stressed the importance of diplomacy and constructive dialogue in addressing international disputes.

Referring to ongoing developments in West Asia, he welcomed efforts aimed at reducing tensions while also expressing concern over the humanitarian and economic consequences of prolonged conflicts. According to the Prime Minister, lasting peace can only be achieved through cooperation, communication, and collective action among nations.

He emphasized that meaningful international partnerships require countries to work together in tackling common challenges that affect global stability and development.

Maritime Security Remains a Key Concern

The Prime Minister also drew attention to the importance of maritime security and uninterrupted trade routes. He noted that disruptions affecting the Strait of Hormuz had created economic uncertainty and impacted global commerce.

Highlighting the interconnected nature of modern economies, Modi said the international community shares responsibility for maintaining safe sea lanes and protecting maritime workers involved in global trade. He stressed that secure shipping routes are essential for sustaining economic growth and ensuring stability in international markets.
