Housing – DDA Records Sharp Rise in Flat Sales During First Quarter of FY 2026-27
Housing –The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has reported an impressive performance in the opening quarter of the 2026-27 financial year, reflecting growing interest in its residential projects. The authority said the strong response from homebuyers aligns with efforts to transform DDA-developed sub-cities, a vision being actively supported by Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu. During the quarter, DDA sold 1,284 flats across multiple housing categories, generating revenue of Rs 1,020 crore.

Narela Emerges as the Leading Housing Destination
Narela accounted for the largest share of the quarterly sales, with 1,153 flats purchased, representing nearly 90 percent of the total units sold. According to officials, improved connectivity and ongoing infrastructure development have significantly increased the area’s appeal among prospective buyers. Major projects, including the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) and the proposed Rithala-Narela-Kundli Metro corridor, are expected to further strengthen the region’s residential prospects.
Revenue Shows Strong Year-on-Year Growth
The authority’s financial performance also registered a notable improvement over the same period last year. DDA earned Rs 1,020 crore in the first quarter of FY 2026-27, compared with Rs 462 crore during the corresponding quarter of FY 2025-26. Officials said the substantial rise reflects sustained demand for ready-to-move homes offered under the authority’s ongoing housing initiatives.
Housing Schemes Continue to Attract Buyers
The sales were driven through several residential programmes, including Karmayogi Awaas Yojana, Nagrik Awaas Yojana, and Towering Heights at the East Delhi Hub in Karkardooma. These schemes provide housing options for buyers from different income groups and remain available until July 31, 2026, on a first-come, first-served basis. Since the booking process is conducted online, eligible buyers can directly purchase ready-to-move flats through the digital platform.
Balanced Demand Across Income Categories
The quarterly sales covered every major housing segment. A total of 336 flats were sold under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), while 322 units were purchased in the Lower Income Group (LIG) category. The Middle Income Group (MIG) recorded 435 sales, making it the largest contributor with around 34 percent of the total transactions. In addition, 191 flats were sold in the High Income Group (HIG) category.
Officials also noted that the EWS housing inventory in Narela witnessed an almost complete sell-out during the quarter, highlighting strong demand for affordable homes. The latest performance builds on the authority’s achievements during FY 2025-26, when DDA sold a total of 11,764 residential units.
Reforms and Digital Services Support Higher Sales
According to DDA officials, several policy improvements have played an important role in strengthening buyer confidence. The authority introduced housing schemes designed to meet the needs of different sections of society while expanding access to affordable financing through improved home loan options. It also enhanced customer support by establishing dedicated helpdesks and introducing digital services, including a WhatsApp chatbot, to simplify the buying process.
Technology-driven allotment systems, transparent procedures, and extensive public awareness campaigns have further helped ensure that information about the schemes reaches potential homebuyers across the city.
Focus Remains on Affordable Housing Expansion
Looking ahead, DDA plans to introduce additional policy measures aimed at improving public services and strengthening its digital governance systems. The authority also intends to continue expanding affordable housing opportunities while making the home-buying experience more efficient and accessible for residents across Delhi.
