Healthcare – A political controversy has erupted in Rajasthan after Health Minister Gajendra Singh made a remark while addressing questions about the condition of several women who became critically ill following childbirth at Bikaner’s PBM Hospital. The statement has intensified discussions surrounding healthcare standards and patient safety in government-run medical institutions across the state.
Questions Raised During Hospital Inspection
The controversy unfolded during the minister’s visit to PBM Hospital, one of the largest public healthcare facilities in Rajasthan. While reviewing arrangements in the intensive care unit, he was asked by journalists about six women whose health reportedly worsened after undergoing Caesarean section procedures.
Responding to the queries, Singh referred to hospital officials and questioned whether the women had arrived at the medical facility in a serious condition or had come without any health concerns. The remark was widely circulated on social media and quickly became the subject of criticism from opposition leaders and public groups.
Growing Concern Over Maternal Health Cases

Attention has now shifted to PBM Hospital after six women reportedly developed serious complications, including kidney failure, following Caesarean procedures. The incidents triggered concern among patients’ families and local residents.
In response, hospital authorities constituted a committee to examine the circumstances surrounding the cases. Officials are expected to review medical records, treatment procedures, and hospital protocols to determine whether any systemic issues contributed to the patients’ deteriorating health.
Protests Outside Medical Facility
