Headmaster – North Dinajpur School Principal Shot, Hospitalised in Critical Condition
Headmaster –A government primary school headmaster was seriously injured after unidentified attackers allegedly fired at him in North Dinajpur district on Saturday. Police said the incident occurred in the Madaripur area of Islampur, where the victim was travelling to his school.

The injured teacher has been identified as Nazrul Islam, headmaster of Rajabhim Primary School. He was reportedly on his way to work when the attackers targeted him.
Shooting reported on the way to school
According to local residents, Islam had left his home as usual and was travelling towards the school. When he reached the Madaripur area, unidentified men allegedly opened fire at him.
A bullet struck Islam, causing him to collapse on the road. Witnesses said he was bleeding heavily following the attack. People from the surrounding area rushed to his aid and took him to the Islampur Sub-Division Hospital for initial treatment.
Victim shifted to Siliguri hospital
Police officials said Islam’s condition remained critical after he was admitted to the local hospital. Given the seriousness of his injuries, doctors later recommended that he be moved to a larger medical facility.
He was subsequently transferred to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital in Siliguri, located in the neighbouring Darjeeling district. His medical condition is being closely monitored, according to officials.
Police begin investigation into attack
Authorities have started an investigation to establish what led to the shooting and identify the people responsible. Police have not yet confirmed the motive behind the attack.
Investigators are examining CCTV recordings from cameras installed in and around the area in an effort to trace the movements of the suspected attackers and gather evidence connected with the incident.
The shooting has caused concern among residents, particularly because Islam is not known to have any political association. Police are also looking into whether the attack was connected to any personal dispute or other circumstances.
Family and colleagues deny personal dispute
Members of Islam’s family have said that he did not have any known personal hostility or dispute with anyone. His colleagues have also expressed shock at the incident and described him as a committed teacher.
Fellow educators said Islam was known for being punctual and dedicated to his responsibilities at the school. They said there had been no apparent indication of any threat to him before the shooting.
Police officials are continuing to collect information from witnesses, examine available surveillance footage and establish the sequence of events. The identities of the assailants and the reason for the attack remain unknown at this stage.
