Governance – Karnataka Chief Minister Reaches Out to Former Leaders for Development Discussions
Governance – Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Monday met two former chief ministers, Jagadish Shettar and D.V. Sadananda Gowda, as part of a broader effort to engage experienced political leaders in discussions related to the state’s progress and future development plans.

Meetings Focus on Karnataka’s Growth Agenda
According to information shared by the Chief Minister on social media, he visited the residences of both veteran leaders and spent time discussing issues linked to Karnataka’s development. During the meetings, Shivakumar also enquired about their health and well-being while seeking their views on matters concerning governance and public welfare.
In his message regarding the visit to Jagadish Shettar, Shivakumar stated that he had the opportunity to interact with the senior leader and exchange thoughts on various aspects of the state’s advancement. The discussion, he noted, centered on development-oriented issues and the importance of drawing from the experience of senior political figures.
Interaction With Sadananda Gowda
Later in the day, the Chief Minister met former Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda at his residence. Shivakumar described the interaction as a productive discussion on Karnataka’s future growth and development priorities. He also acknowledged the warm reception extended to him by Gowda’s family members, particularly his grandchildren, which he said made the visit memorable.
The meetings highlighted an effort to maintain dialogue across political lines on matters affecting the state’s long-term interests. Both former chief ministers have held key positions in Karnataka’s political landscape and continue to be respected voices in public affairs.
Government Steps Up Public Safety Measures
The discussions took place on the same day that the state government announced fresh measures aimed at strengthening law and order. Earlier on Monday, Shivakumar revealed plans to establish dedicated Anti-Rowdy Squads at both police station and circle levels.
The initiative is intended to address criminal activities more effectively and enhance public security across Karnataka. The Chief Minister emphasized that citizens should be able to carry out their daily activities without fear, whether attending school, running businesses, or traveling within their communities.
Focus on Employment and Welfare Programmes
In recent weeks, the Karnataka government has also unveiled several proposals designed to accelerate development and improve public services. Among the key announcements are plans for free bus passes for students, efforts to fill approximately 56,000 vacant government positions, and employment-focused initiatives targeting young people.
The administration has additionally outlined measures aimed at increasing opportunities for local residents within the private sector. These proposals form part of a wider strategy to strengthen economic growth while ensuring that development benefits reach different sections of society.
Emphasis on Inclusive Administration
Shivakumar has consistently stated that comprehensive development remains a major objective of the government. He has instructed officials to ensure that welfare programmes and development projects are implemented effectively at the grassroots level.
The Chief Minister has repeatedly stressed the need for citizen-focused governance, coordinated planning, and efficient execution of public initiatives. Through continued engagement with experienced leaders and administrative reforms, the government aims to support economic progress, employment generation, public safety, and overall welfare across Karnataka.
