Fuel – Authorities Confirm Adequate Petrol and Diesel Supply in Visakhapatnam
Fuel – Amid rising public concern about a potential shortage of petrol and diesel, officials have reassured residents that fuel reserves in Visakhapatnam are currently sufficient. Authorities stated that both High Speed Diesel (HSD) and Motor Spirit (MS) stocks are stable, with no immediate risk of disruption in supply across the district.

Fuel Stations Operating Normally Across District
According to the latest official figures, fuel distribution infrastructure in the region continues to operate smoothly. A total of 120 petrol outlets and 118 diesel outlets are functioning across the district. These stations are adequately stocked and continue to serve customers without interruption, reflecting normal operational conditions.
The day began with an opening stock of 1,655 kilolitres of petrol and 1,680 kilolitres of diesel. These figures indicate a strong baseline availability even before fresh supplies were added.
Fresh Supply Strengthens Overall Stock Position
During the day, additional fuel shipments further boosted the district’s reserves. Around 823 kilolitres of petrol and 1,121 kilolitres of diesel were received, ensuring that stocks remained well above consumption requirements.
With this replenishment, the total availability rose to 2,478 kilolitres of petrol and 2,801 kilolitres of diesel. Officials highlighted that such steady inflow plays a crucial role in maintaining supply consistency and avoiding any gaps in distribution.
Oil Companies Maintain Balanced Distribution
Major oil marketing companies have reported healthy stock levels across their respective networks. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited maintained a significant share, with 1,082 kilolitres of petrol and 958 kilolitres of diesel distributed across its outlets.
Bharat Petroleum Corporation also reported strong reserves, with 788 kilolitres of petrol and 1,157 kilolitres of diesel available across its stations. Meanwhile, Indian Oil Corporation recorded 608 kilolitres of petrol and 686 kilolitres of diesel, ensuring balanced supply coverage throughout the district.
These figures indicate that all major suppliers are maintaining adequate reserves, reducing the likelihood of any localized shortages.
Daily Consumption Reflects Routine Demand
Fuel consumption during the day remained within expected levels. Approximately 584 kilolitres of petrol and 792 kilolitres of diesel were sold across the district, reflecting typical daily usage patterns.
Despite this steady demand, reserves remained strong by the end of the day. Closing stock levels stood at 1,894 kilolitres of petrol and 2,009 kilolitres of diesel, underlining the resilience of the supply system.
Officials Urge Public to Avoid Panic Buying
Authorities have emphasized that there is no need for concern regarding fuel availability. They confirmed that supply chains are functioning efficiently, with regular deliveries ensuring uninterrupted distribution.
Officials also advised residents not to engage in panic buying, warning that such behavior can create unnecessary strain on the system. They reiterated that current reserves are more than sufficient to meet ongoing demand and that supply operations are being closely monitored.
With stable stock levels, consistent replenishment, and coordinated efforts by oil companies, the fuel supply situation in Visakhapatnam remains well under control.
