FireSafety – Factory Blaze Triggers Building Collapse in Delhi Industrial Hub
FireSafety – A major fire at an industrial facility in Delhi’s Mayapuri area on Thursday led to the partial collapse of the building, prompting a large-scale emergency response from fire authorities. Officials said multiple firefighting teams were dispatched to the location to contain the flames and prevent the incident from spreading to nearby units.

Fire Erupts at Mayapuri Industrial Facility
According to officials from the Delhi Fire Service, an emergency call regarding the fire was received at approximately 11:17 am from Phase-I of the Mayapuri Industrial Area. The blaze reportedly started inside a factory involved in steel-cutting operations and the storage of packing materials.
The affected unit was functioning on the first and second floors of a multi-level structure spread across nearly 500 square yards. The building consisted of a basement, ground floor, and two upper floors. Due to the presence of industrial materials, the fire spread rapidly through the premises, creating challenging conditions for emergency crews.
Large Firefighting Operation Launched
As the intensity of the flames increased, authorities deployed a total of 18 fire tenders to the site. Firefighters worked for several hours to prevent the blaze from reaching adjacent industrial establishments located within the densely populated manufacturing zone.
Officials stated that the operation required additional resources because of the scale of the fire and concerns over the structural stability of the building. Emergency personnel continued cooling operations even after bringing the main fire under control to eliminate the possibility of flare-ups.
Portions of Building Collapse During Rescue Efforts
During the firefighting operation, sections of the first and second floors gave way and collapsed. Authorities indicated that the damage caused by the fire had significantly weakened the structure, making parts of the building unsafe.
Fire officials warned that the premises remain structurally compromised and will require a detailed assessment before any further activity can be carried out at the location. Safety teams are expected to inspect the site to determine the extent of the damage and identify any potential hazards.
No Casualties Reported
Despite the severity of the incident, officials confirmed that no injuries or fatalities had been reported up to the time the information was released. The fire was successfully brought under control at around 2:20 pm after several hours of continuous firefighting efforts.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the exact cause of the fire. An investigation is expected to be conducted to establish how the blaze originated and whether any safety violations contributed to the incident.
Separate Fire Incident Reported in North Delhi
In another fire-related incident on Thursday, a blaze broke out at a paying guest accommodation located in the Sabzi Mandi area of north Delhi. Officials said the fire originated on the fourth floor of a four-storey building that was reportedly being used as student accommodation.
All occupants were evacuated safely before the situation escalated. Firefighters responded promptly and managed to contain the blaze without any reported injuries. Authorities confirmed that no casualties occurred during the incident.
The two separate fire emergencies have once again highlighted the importance of fire safety measures and emergency preparedness in both industrial and residential buildings across the national capital.
