Fire – Major Blaze at Jodhpur Vehicle Service Centre Damages Dozens of Cars
Fire –Vehicle repair centre safety and fire investigation updates – A major fire erupted at a vehicle service and repair centre in Jodhpur late on Wednesday night, triggering a large-scale emergency response. The facility, located behind PG Women’s College, was engulfed in flames, with several vehicles parked inside affected by the blaze. Firefighters and police personnel responded quickly, preventing the incident from causing any loss of life.
Firefighters Launch Extensive Rescue Operation
Authorities received information about the incident at around 10 PM, following which emergency teams reached the location without delay. The Fire Department initially dispatched two fire engines, but the intensity of the flames required additional support. As the situation escalated, a total of 12 fire tenders were deployed to contain the blaze after prolonged firefighting efforts.
Police officials also secured the surrounding area, keeping residents and onlookers at a safe distance while emergency crews carried out operations inside the service facility.
Preliminary Findings Suggest Electrical Fault
According to Fire Officer Jalaj Ghasia, the affected premises function as a vehicle repair and maintenance centre. Most employees had already left the workshop before the fire broke out, reducing the risk of casualties.
Officials believe a possible short circuit may have triggered the fire, which quickly spread after reaching paint stocks and other combustible materials stored inside the workshop. However, authorities have clarified that the exact cause will only be confirmed after a detailed investigation is completed.
Flammable Materials Accelerated the Blaze
Fire department officials said the presence of repair supplies, chemicals, paint products and other highly flammable materials allowed the flames to spread rapidly throughout the premises.
More than 50 vehicles were reportedly parked inside the service centre at the time of the incident. While several vehicles suffered damage, officials are still assessing the full extent of the losses. A detailed inspection is expected to determine the number of vehicles affected and estimate the financial impact.
No Casualties Reported
Despite the scale of the fire, no injuries or fatalities were reported. Emergency responders managed to bring the situation under control after several hours of continuous firefighting.
Police have launched an inquiry alongside the Fire Department to establish the precise sequence of events leading to the incident. Officials are expected to examine electrical systems, storage practices and other possible contributing factors during the investigation.
Recent Fire Incidents Raise Safety Concerns
The Jodhpur incident comes only weeks after another fire-related emergency in Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu district, where a private school van carrying around 10 children caught fire near Kanchania ki Dhani while travelling from Copper towards Singhana.
The driver noticed the smoke in time, stopped the vehicle immediately and safely evacuated all the children before the flames intensified. Thanks to the prompt action, none of the students sustained injuries, although the vehicle was completely engulfed in fire shortly afterward. Local residents later assisted emergency teams in controlling the blaze.
Earlier in June, another serious fire occurred at an alleged illegal firecracker manufacturing unit in Jaipur’s Kho Nagoriyan area. The incident claimed three lives and left five others injured. Officials stated that the fire also involved a gas cylinder inside the premises, complicating rescue efforts.
District authorities said investigations are continuing to determine the nature of the materials stored at the site and whether safety regulations had been violated. The injured were shifted for medical treatment after firefighters brought the situation under control.
