FashionFraud – Delhi Police Expose Fake Branded Clothing Network in Hotel Raid

FashionFraud –  Delhi Police have uncovered an organised counterfeit garment operation allegedly being run from a luxury hotel in the Vasant Kunj area, leading to the arrest of a 51-year-old man accused of managing the illegal business.

Fashionfraud delhi fake brand network raid

According to police officials, the action was taken after authorities received a complaint regarding suspicious sales activity inside the hotel premises. A raid was conducted on Sunday, during which officers discovered a temporary exhibition-style setup that appeared to function like a legitimate branded clothing sale event.

Fake Luxury Products Sold Through Discount Exhibitions

Investigators said the organisers had carefully designed the operation to appear authentic. Customers visiting the exhibition were reportedly shown clothing and accessories labelled as products from well-known fashion brands. The goods were allegedly marketed as genuine items available at discounted prices.

Police officers stated that printed bills were issued to buyers, while digital payment options were accepted to create trust among customers and avoid suspicion. The exhibition reportedly attracted shoppers by promoting major discounts and presenting the products as premium branded merchandise.

A senior police officer said the complainant identified several items during the raid and confirmed that the products being sold were counterfeit versions of branded goods.

Accused Managed Daily Operations at Venue

During the operation, police detained a man identified as Iqbal, a resident of Nuh in Haryana. Officials alleged that he was responsible for managing the exhibition, handling customer interactions, supervising staff members, and overseeing sales transactions at the venue.

Authorities believe the accused played a central role in coordinating the day-to-day functioning of the operation. Police also claimed that the exhibition had been organised professionally to resemble a genuine clearance or promotional sale event.

Investigators recovered several items from the site, including garments, watches, and purses that are suspected to be counterfeit products carrying fake brand identities.

Police Suspect Wider Inter-State Counterfeit Network

Initial findings suggest that the operation may be part of a larger organised network involved in selling fake branded apparel across multiple cities. Police officials said the group allegedly rented hotel spaces and convention centres for short-term exhibitions where counterfeit products were displayed and sold.

According to investigators, customers were often told that the items were “export surplus” stock or “first copy” products, terms commonly used in informal markets to describe imitation branded goods. Authorities said such descriptions were used to convince buyers that the products were closely linked to original manufacturers.

Police believe the organisers relied on attractive discounts and temporary sale events to quickly move products before shifting operations to other locations.

Legal Action Underway After Raid

A case has now been registered, and further investigation is underway to identify others linked to the suspected counterfeit racket. Officials are examining the source of the seized goods and tracing possible supply channels connected to the operation.

Police are also expected to investigate whether similar exhibitions held in Delhi and nearby regions were connected to the same network. Authorities said additional arrests may follow as the investigation progresses.

Counterfeit branded products remain a growing concern for law enforcement agencies as such operations not only mislead consumers but can also impact legitimate businesses and brand owners. Police have urged buyers to remain cautious while purchasing heavily discounted luxury items from temporary exhibitions and unverified sales events.
