FactoryFire – Two Succumb to Injuries After Mujesar Blaze

FactoryFire – Two men who sustained critical injuries in a devastating factory fire in the Mujesar industrial area have died during treatment, police confirmed on Friday. The fatalities have intensified scrutiny over safety practices at the facility, where dozens were injured earlier this week.

Victims Die During Treatment in Delhi Hospital

According to officials, 37-year-old Abhishek Monga and 21-year-old Pradeep Kumar passed away late Thursday night at Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi. Both had suffered severe burn injuries covering nearly half of their bodies.

Abhishek was the son of Vijay Monga, the owner of the factory where the fire occurred. Pradeep Kumar worked at the unit and lived in Sanjay Colony. Doctors had been battling to stabilize the two since they were admitted following Monday’s incident, but their condition deteriorated due to the extent of their injuries.

Police said Abhishek was hurt while attempting to rescue his father after the blaze erupted inside the premises.

Spark Triggered Series of Explosions

The fire broke out on Monday at a workshop operating under the names Kalkaji Lubricants and Shiv Steel Company. Preliminary findings suggest that a stray spark fell into a drum containing chemicals, triggering multiple explosions that rapidly spread flames across the unit.

Emergency teams rushed to the scene and transported the injured to nearby hospitals. In total, 37 individuals were reported hurt in the incident, making it one of the most serious industrial accidents in the area in recent years.

Authorities have indicated that the nature of the materials stored at the site may have contributed to the intensity of the explosions, though a detailed technical assessment is still underway.

Factory Owner Booked, Probe Team Formed

Vijay Monga, who was also injured in the blaze, is currently receiving medical care at a hospital in Delhi. Police have registered a case against him in connection with the incident. Officials have not yet disclosed the specific charges but confirmed that legal proceedings are in motion.

In response to the incident, the district administration has constituted a seven-member inquiry committee. The panel, headed by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Badhkal, has been tasked with determining the cause of the fire and examining whether safety regulations were followed at the facility.

A senior police officer said the committee will review operational protocols, licensing documents, and storage practices at the factory as part of its investigation.

Several Injured Remain Undergoing Treatment

While two victims have succumbed to their injuries, many others continue to receive medical care at different hospitals in the region. Officials said some of the injured are in stable condition, though a few remain critical.

Among those in serious condition are two fire brigade personnel, identified as Ranveer and Bhavichand. Both suffered more than 50 percent burns while responding to the emergency and are currently being treated at Safdarjung Hospital. Doctors are closely monitoring their condition.

The incident has once again drawn attention to fire safety standards in industrial units operating in densely populated areas. Local authorities have stated that inspections will be carried out to ensure compliance with safety norms and to prevent similar tragedies.

Further updates are expected once the inquiry committee submits its preliminary findings.
