Expressway – Six Killed After Bus Bursts Into Flames Following Rajasthan Highway Crash
Expressway – A major road tragedy unfolded on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Rajasthan after a passenger bus collided with a truck and caught fire, leaving at least six people dead and 15 others injured. The accident took place near Dwarpura village in Dausa district under the Kolawa police station area. Officials said the bus, carrying 39 passengers, was on its way from Haridwar to Indore when the collision occurred. The force of the impact triggered a fire that rapidly spread through the vehicle, trapping several passengers inside. Most of those travelling on the bus are reported to be from Madhya Pradesh.
Emergency Teams Launch Immediate Rescue Operation
Residents from nearby areas were among the first to reach the accident site and helped pull passengers from the burning bus before emergency services arrived. Soon afterward, police personnel, firefighters and medical teams began rescue and relief work. Several passengers sustained burn injuries, while others were hurt during the collision itself.
Authorities established a dedicated green corridor to ensure ambulances carrying the injured could reach Dausa District Hospital as quickly as possible. Medical teams remained on standby to provide urgent treatment to those brought from the accident scene.
Officials Confirm Casualties and Initial Findings
According to Dausa Superintendent of Police Piyush Dixit, five passengers lost their lives after being trapped in the fire, while another victim died due to severe head injuries suffered in the crash. He stated that the bus had started its journey from Rishikesh in Uttarakhand and was heading toward Indore in Madhya Pradesh when it struck a truck travelling ahead on the expressway.
Police also confirmed that the bus belonged to Hans Travels, an Indore-based transport operator. Officials have begun collecting evidence from the accident site to determine the exact sequence of events that led to the collision.
Traffic Movement Restored After Diversions
The incident temporarily affected traffic along the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway as rescue vehicles and fire services worked at the site. Police diverted vehicles through alternate routes to prevent congestion and allow emergency teams to complete rescue operations safely.
After damaged vehicles were removed and the roadway was cleared, traffic gradually resumed. Investigators continue examining whether factors such as vehicle speed, visibility or mechanical failure contributed to the accident.
Earlier Highway Incident Drew Public Attention
The latest tragedy comes only days after another unusual road incident in Rajasthan. On June 27, a milk tanker overturned on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway near Kotputli, spilling thousands of litres of milk across the road.
Videos circulating on social media showed people arriving with buckets, bottles and containers to collect the milk flowing from the damaged tanker. While several bystanders assisted the injured driver, many others gathered around the vehicle to collect the spilled milk, creating a crowded and chaotic situation.
The tanker accident also disrupted traffic for a considerable period before authorities cleared the road. Although the incident did not result in fatalities similar to the Dausa bus crash, it highlighted the challenges faced by emergency responders in managing highway accidents while ensuring public safety.
Road accidents on major highways continue to raise concerns over passenger safety, emergency preparedness and traffic management. Authorities are expected to complete a detailed investigation into the Dausa expressway collision to establish the precise cause and determine whether any negligence or technical issues played a role in the fatal incident.
