Environment – Madhya Pradesh Begins Statewide Tree Plantation Drive
Environment – Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav launched the second phase of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign on World Environment Day during a state-level event held in Bhopal. The initiative aims to encourage large-scale tree plantation across the state while strengthening public participation in environmental protection efforts.

Statewide Plantation Campaign Underway
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister extended World Environment Day greetings to residents of Madhya Pradesh and citizens across the country. He announced that a special tree plantation drive will be conducted from June 5 to June 21 as part of the campaign. The programme is intended to increase green cover and promote environmental awareness among communities.
Yadav said the plantation campaign reflects a broader commitment to sustainable development and public welfare. He noted that various government initiatives are being implemented with a focus on environmental conservation and improving the quality of life for citizens.
Focus on Environment and Wildlife Conservation
During his address, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of environmental protection and referred to several conservation efforts being carried out in the state. He also mentioned the successful implementation of Project Cheetah, describing it as a significant milestone in wildlife conservation. According to him, Madhya Pradesh has emerged as an important centre for ecological and biodiversity-related initiatives.
The Chief Minister praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emphasis on environmental issues and said several programmes launched under his leadership have contributed to conservation, development, and social welfare across different sectors.
Sapling Plantation and Exhibition Visit
As part of the event, Mohan Yadav planted a sapling and toured an exhibition showcasing innovative projects related to environmental preservation and water resource management. The exhibition featured various initiatives undertaken across Madhya Pradesh to promote sustainable practices, improve water conservation, and strengthen ecological balance.
Officials and representatives from different departments participated in the programme, highlighting achievements made in protecting natural resources and implementing environment-friendly solutions in various regions of the state.
New Learning Modules and Documentation Released
The Chief Minister also released five educational modules focused on the circular economy. These learning materials have been prepared to encourage sustainable production and consumption practices. Alongside the modules, documentation records covering 500 stepwells from 16 districts were unveiled under the Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan.
The documentation project is expected to support efforts aimed at preserving traditional water structures and improving awareness about water conservation. Authorities believe such initiatives can contribute significantly to sustainable water management in both urban and rural areas.
Recognition for Environmental Contributions
The event also included the presentation of annual environmental awards. Industrial units, educational institutions, social organisations, and individual contributors were honoured for their notable work in environmental protection and conservation activities.
The awards recognised efforts in areas such as pollution control, resource conservation, green development practices, and community participation in environmental programmes. Officials stated that acknowledging such contributions helps encourage greater public involvement in protecting natural resources and promoting sustainable growth.
With the launch of the latest phase of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, the Madhya Pradesh government aims to expand environmental awareness while encouraging citizens to actively participate in tree plantation and conservation efforts throughout the state.
